Tree and decs down in the lounge - just need to hoover through and de-dec the hall and will hopefully get that done tomorrow. I've decided I can't do without the fairy lights though so have moved these to round the mirror and fireplace at the moment. Will have to think about a permanent position for them.
DGD went home today - it's been lovely having her here she's so gorgeous, but it will be nice to be able to just chill. Will see her on NYD anyway for DD2 birthday.
New year resolution this year:- to keep in better touch with old friends and family not living locally;
- get a new bike and take up bike riding again when the weather improves (bought a lovely bike last year and used it for a few weeks then decided it was too big so sold it before Christmas);
- try to do better in getting my 'five a day'
Welcome all newbies and as I probably won't post in the next couple of days HAPPY NEW YEAR to you all, I hope it's a good one for all of us.
I think I will join you with 2 and 3I have a bike, but it has a puncture, and I'm too lazy/cold to fix it.
Last year a lot of us got fitbits to kick start the new year with. Well mine stayed with me until September, and then got a little lost. It is clipped back on now. I'm aiming for 8k steps a day
I don't usually do NYE, but for the first time in years I'm heading out tomorrow - not looking forward to itit's the great gatsby theme, and despite a whole afternoon shopping I have no outfit. On the plus side, I do have a lot of new sales clothes for me

Evening all. Popped in to tesco tonight and got 2 heritage lap dinner trays a 5 knife set in a clear block, a 2pound coin saving jar, some mushrooms and lettuce. I love the points boost. Total came to exactly 35 £ but only paid 5I don't respond to stupid so that's why I am ignoring you.

The tree is fab. I know you have candy canes.
What about knitting/ crocheting flowers to add. Wilkos sell quite cheap wool. Ask around and some people may have scraps you can use. Alternatively, you may be able to use wired ribbon.
Knitted stockings in bright colours may look good too.
The lollypops could be made with salt dough and painted and glazed.
Hope someone else has more ideas.

Those are good ideas - never thought of salt dough. Will post a pic of my pink tree this year - I have some gingerbread men and cupcake ornaments - but that tree looks so full and sumptuous.
Will definitely try making those lollies with red and white dough.
Have some gingerbread and candy house fabric so thought to make some padded ornaments with some red fabric backing.Great opportunities to help others seldom come, but small ones surround us every day. -- Sally Koch0 -

I really must get my !!!! in gear. Bar walking the dog I haven't left the house in days.
Am looking for advice
Do any of you lovelies have any experience of ELC HappyLand ?
I have just ordered FM the funfair from ELC. It is £20 down from £60, and I was thinking about getting more bits through the year. ( Am hoping some of it goes in the sales).
But is it worth it ? It's sooo expensive. I'm looking at boy bits obviously. The Pirate ship, Police Station etc plus cars. I was also going to get the box that becomes a play mat.
Ds had no imagination so I have no idea what boys play with.
just a quickie omo. My kids loved happyland and I'm just in the process of selling loads of it! If you're interested I can pm msg you details etc and if you were interested would happily meet you. Just a thought x
just saw your next post re little people. Apologies still playing catch up!0 -

What about stuffed hearts, stars and gingerbread men? If you have material you only need to make a pattern on some cereal box card, cut it out, stitch and stuff.:D
There are about 50 weeks before you need to decorate the tree.
One item per week with a push on the salt dough at the beginning of December should set you up..........:):):)
I'm really looking forward to seeing what you can do.......
What a long wait:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Wishing for next Christmas already:j

The kids walked in from work tonight and none of them noticed i had taken the decorations downAfternoon everyone, another lurker here. I have been reading all about you since October. My day would be empty without this thread, you are all an inspiration.
My name is Clare, I will be 40 on July 3rd and have just started crafting. Why it has taken me this long to start, I will never know.
2014 is the year I will learn to use a sewing machine, so any advice & Christmas projects will be greatly appreciated.
I was lucky, no hideous presents this year.
Picked up some lovely led colour changing snowmen in sportsdirect for 50p each. All wrapping paper, cards & tags bought.
Thanks for letting me join
Hello and welcome TREKKIE to our thread, i am hopeless with a sewing machine but some of our lovelies on here are brilliant with them im sure they can help youOwn_My_Own wrote: »Popped into town this afternoon. Our sales are sh*t.
Bought the Pirate ship for FM and his Birthday card and some bloodworms for the turtles. That was it. I looked for stocking fillers but they all looked the same. My 2 tend to have smellies and underwear, and I can get them during the year. It didn't help that it was raining and blowing a gale.
Both Boots and Superdrug sale shelves were nearly empty and I just couldn't be bothered. I may look online in Superdrug. I can do that in the warm with a coffee.
The couldn't find any wrapping paper I liked, then realised I won't have a lot to wrap this year as I have reduced the list and my 2 want money. So I will use what I have left over from other years.
My job this evening is to sort through all FMs toys and make room for the lot he just got and the birthday bits he will get on Sunday.
I need to walk Mia but it just soooo cold outside. I will do it later after dinner. It helps me feel less sluggish.
Hope everyone else has had a good day. xx
A lot of people have said the sales are carp this yearredbooties wrote: »I cant wait to take down my Christmas decorations and have my house back to normal again but I'm going to wait until the children are back in school so it can all be put away properly and with care.
I've made a Christmas folder so I can jot down any ideas for christmas gifts that pop into my head through the year. I've decided to cut down on the amount of people I buy for next year as I stress so much about finding the perfect gifts and I haven't even received a thank you for them, which is quite upsetting.
At the moment I have all my bills spread out in front of me so Ican sort out a budget for the year and I will know how much I can spend on birthdays and Christmas without going into any debt. I'm doing the sealed pot challenge and I'm saving all tesco clubcard points, nectar points etc for Christmas 2014.
If things go to plan I should have :-
£500 from my sealed pot
£50 from rbs cashbackplus
£75 in tesco points which i'll use to double up to £150
£20 in nectar points
Thats gives a grand total of £720!!!!
REDBOOTIES welcome to our thread, oh its really upsetting when people cant even say thankyou especially when you go out of your way to buy them the perfect present

I have decided to face NYE and go to the club with my DH.
I am planning a "no tears...no maudlin thoughts" NYE this year.
I really don't like it but it is time faced some demons and go out there and make it a better night for me and my family.
The new me started about 2 years ago (I'm 47) and this is another hurdle to overcome....
I wish everyone what they would wish for themselves.
And me? We all know that you can't eat an elephant in one go so just to continue to move forwards and improve my families and my life bit by bit.
