I also like doing a sort of debrief after Xmas so I know if I need more decorations, what not to buy the following year etc (like biscuits and chocS as we always get given loads).Great opportunities to help others seldom come, but small ones surround us every day. -- Sally Koch0

I have a pink tree and some cupcake decorations - have also ordered candy canes from Superdrug at 49p for 10 (5 boxes). Any other adivce on how to get it looking like that - with minimal cost!Great opportunities to help others seldom come, but small ones surround us every day. -- Sally Koch0

I am unable to access the picture of the tree. Can you copy and paste it on here?
ThanksStart by doing what's necessary, then do what's possible and suddenly you are doing the impossible:j
Christmas is not a time but a state of mind :xmassmile
Trying.....Very trying- as my DH would say
Loving de-cluttering0 -
Tree and decs down in the lounge - just need to hoover through and de-dec the hall and will hopefully get that done tomorrow. I've decided I can't do without the fairy lights though so have moved these to round the mirror and fireplace at the moment. Will have to think about a permanent position for them.
DGD went home today - it's been lovely having her here she's so gorgeous, but it will be nice to be able to just chill. Will see her on NYD anyway for DD2 birthday.
New year resolution this year:- to keep in better touch with old friends and family not living locally;
- get a new bike and take up bike riding again when the weather improves (bought a lovely bike last year and used it for a few weeks then decided it was too big so sold it before Christmas);
- try to do better in getting my 'five a day'
Welcome all newbies and as I probably won't post in the next couple of days HAPPY NEW YEAR to you all, I hope it's a good one for all of us.It's the most wonderful timeof the year :0 -
Thanks so much guys, I'll get onto some google spreadsheets now (don't have excel at home and I think it will be handier for me to access it at home).
Cooking for 25 people! As much as I love cooking, I'm glad I'm working next Christmas Day as oppose to doing that ha ha. You really are Super Woman.
One think I really don't need to buy is anymore decorations - I love Christmas, and developed a real fetish for decs this year, I couldn't go into a shop without buying some and I'm now overrun with them. It wouldn't be too bad, but there is literally no storage in my house so where its all going to go I have no idea

Can I join?
I'm afraid I haven't had chance to read more than a few pages as yet but I really want/need to be involved on this thread for 2014!
I'll be 24 on 25th July and whilst I did well this year I need to get even better. Christmas is my favourite time of year/occasion and I can happily spend months getting ready for it!
Although in 2014 we will have our first baby to share it with! She'll be 8/9months or so by then so should be 'with it' enough to be some fun!
Tried the sales but really couldn't find much of anything! I'm going to check out ASDA living tomorrow though as there was some cute wrap I'd like for bubs (Winnie the Pooh) and I picked up a dress and sleepsuit/vest/bib set both half price in Boots and a pram suit in Next. Everything else is a bit pointless for us!
Our list goes as follows:
Each other (24 and 29)
Baby
MIL - 50
FIL - about 47 I * think *
BIL1 - 22
BIL2 - 25
SIL - 28
Nephew - 5
Niece - 2
My mum - 58
My dad - 62
My brother - 27
Grandparents - 78 and 81 (they don't really 'do' Christmas so just a little token gift)
We have also offered to host Christmas dinner for Bf's parents and my parents plus my brother next year and hopefully BIL1 too (bf's youngest brother)Although we'll need to sort out some sort of dining table for that as we don't have one in our little bungalow!
Usually bf covers his lot and I mine but as I will have six months of mat leave to entertain myself and a baby I may take on a few more bits this yearI'm saving £1 a day from today with a view to having a minimum of £300 saved to cover the costs of Christmas dinner for the 8 of us (plus baby), treats and trimmings plus presents for bf and baby, my brother, parents and grandparents
Ok, I'll stop babbling now and go and work out how I'm going to keep myself organised!************************************

Not sure if this will work - it won't load from my pc - has to be hosted online somewhere.Great opportunities to help others seldom come, but small ones surround us every day. -- Sally Koch0 -
Today has been a must try harder sort of a day.
I did pop into Sainsburys and pick up some reduced chocs Harper will be kind enough to give us each a malteaser selection for Valentine's :rotfl:
Also grabbed Mum a frying pan and a chilli mill and pepper mill, currently her birthday is mainly house based which she will hate, so I must remember to buy her some valentines lush as there are some bits I think she will love.
then popped into Asda where Mum picked up 14 rolls of wrapping paper for £7 I bought a cardigan.
But other than that there has been no meal planning., and no finding of the external hard drive, or updating of the itunes so I can buy a new audiobook.
I very much feel like I did last year when my Vitamin D levels were low. I am so meh.
And I'm feeling very miffed by the fact that I don't know my rota passed tomorrow because my manager hasn't done it yet because he hadn't spoken to all of the Christmas temps last time I saw him.
Oh that was a grumpy post sorry about that
Love and hugs to all xx0 -
welcome to all the newbies
fluffysox your boys are beautiful
nanamia love the decs esp the decal will def have to put one on my list for next yr
cant remember who asked but nail polish keeps for ages esp if unopened so def fine to buy now for xmas. I did a nail hamper this yr and was a huge hit check out eb*y lots of stuff from china goes for pennies inc postage can take a few wks but not a problem now.
ok so I said I didn't need any wrap but asda had 6m rolls of disney winnie the pooh/mickey & a really cute fairy one for just 25p a roll so picked up 3 for the littlies I have to buy for meaning my current 2014 xmas spend stands at 75p. superdrug had some cheap bits picked up a rose gift set showergel /cream/ purfume type spray & bag for £1.49 which will go into my donations box (school fetes /charity appeals ect)
xmas tree is down between the cat & my toddler I got sick of trying to keep the decs on it and tbh just wanted some space back as had to rearrange things to fit it in. No real plans for tommorrow night just be glad this yr is finally over and hope that the next one brings better things for everyone.
first must do for the new yr is treat myself to a nice big note book so I can keep track of my various tasks/list so any suggestions of where to look appreciated.
hope everyones ok and not being too badly effected by this awful weatherthis year do something that scares you for courage is not the absence of fear just the knowledge that some things are worth the risk0
