  • Hello, I would love to join you all - if that's ok?
Im libby, 27 and live in Norfolk.
My birthday is 29th October 1986.
Im not to sure what to do in this thread, is it Christmas planning throughout the year?
Ive tried to be very organised the last few years but I always seem to fail in the present department. Cards, paper, tags etc Im fine with, I struggle with presents and feel I have seemed to give rubbish presents recently.

Hello QUEENLIZARD and welcome to our thread

Unfortunately I have never even manage to get pregnant so anything will be a start - I'm looking forward to it but not really sure what to expect and scared that i will never have a child!
I have bought a few bits from the B00ts sale for next year but nothing to shout about! Will keep looking though xx

CAZ its natural to be scared and unsure about what to expect my lovely all you can do is do what you are doing and try to stay as positive as you can even at the most desperate moments x

Thanks for new thread x promise to try and stay in touch more x happy belated Christmas wishes x

Hi TRENDYJENNY lovely to see you, hope you had a good christmas

I think we should all do pics of our most hideous gifts which we are grateful for but we just don't like! The ones that make us wonder why on earth the buyer thought anyone, least of all us, would like them!!! lol.

    Hi All (again... :o )

Juat adding some stats, as stats make my inner geek happy and keep me motivated.

2014 Bdays completely done so far - 10

2014 Xmas completely done so far- 9

    2014 Bdays/Xmas part done and underway - 8

Spare gifts (for 2014 raffles, kids parties etc) - 8

    ALL 2014 Xmas cards bought

ALL 2014 Xmas wrapping paper, tags and sellotape bought.

Masterplan for January is to buy all 2014 bday cards and bday gift bags/wrapping paper too, as I have always put so much focus on Xmas that birthdays sort of creep up on me. Not any more! :rotfl:

I have never ever been this organised this early. I normally have a big push around mid Jan (Boots 75% sale time) but way in front. :D So pleased!

Pigpen - I think your top beats my snood/bobble hat combo or at least draws equal. :p
    Aims for 2014
Drink a glass of water a day, Empty handbag at least once a week, Continue "not putting things off" and tackle things head on, Treasure people around me, Stay healthy and well away from hospitals, Continue to declutter/decorate house slowly and not get stressed because I can't do everything at once. :D
  • Evening all!
Cant sleep with these horrible Braxton hicks so popped on for a catch up.
Waddled to Sainsbury's earlier for some tissues for hubby with man flu and picked up a few bargain stocking fillers for next year - Lego star wars led torch key rings, Lego friends key ring light £2.40 each, Lego friends watch £4.80 and the larger size Cadbury's selection boxes with full size bars for 60p each, got 6 as there's 7 of us in the house and saves buying treats in the shopping for a few weeks.
Going to try and work out a birthday list and ideas/budget in the next few days for the year as have approx. 20 people on it (large immediate families!)

Ah now i know why there was such a scrum if they were only 60p each that is the price of one choc bar!!! Hope you managed to get some sleep in the end

I got this too.. which doesn't look horrific but hangs like a sack off my ample bosom so I have a draught around my middle and the added point of.. I loathe green! and it has scratchy silver stitching. I do think this is ok but the style colour and fit are not right.

I can't post a pic of my worst gift because it went in the charity shop the day after I opened it!:o Years ago I used to be crazy about dolphins and although I still like them, I'm not bothered about having lots of ornaments etc of them anymore. My Auntie tends to latch onto something and doesn't seem to realise I can change in 10 years, so I got yet another dolphin ornament this year. It was a glass one and to be fair was quite nice, but she got me an almost identical one before and I got rid of them last year. She also got me a calendar and diary with dolphins on, which I'm passing on to someone else. As she bought me TWO calendars this Christmas (and two identical bookmark calendar things for DH and I) I don't think I've got any excuse to forget birthdays! ;)

I did specifically say to her that I'd like to set up a new tradition with her. I gave her a list of Christmas films we own and asked if she could get us a new DVD every year. Also there's a range of lovely beaded and cross stitch tree decorations, so I suggested she get us a new one of those every Christmas. This would be quite cheap-around £10 total, depending of the cost of DVD-and not anything that clutters up the place. And not big/heavy to cart back on the train!!! But she clearly decided this wasn't enough. :) I hate sounding ungrateful but people forget that whatever they buy me, I have to cart it home on the train, tube and walking from the station. This year I had to carry back some wine, beers, cider, a huge bottle of Baileys and a tub of choc! And it was sooooo blooming HEAVY! Thank goodness the lifts at Paddington have finally opened, which made me life easier.

It's horrible weather out there today. I was going to go for a swim, but I'm really not sure if I want to venture outside. But I feel really sluggish and icky after all the food I've scoffed in the last fortnight, so maybe I should get my bottom into gear and do something!

  • Afternoon all... New Years resolution is off to a good start... I ~really am~ trying to take part more!!
... but this is my last day off today so we'll see if I can keep it up!
Have decided to remain in my pyjamas, one eye on the tv, one eye on the net, as the weather is particularly miserable outside here in Wilts.... was really quite stormy until a few hours ago, neighbours fence panels are down.
Funny, I am a Christmas nut but I've never been a fan of NYE either & put my name down to work both then & NYD because it really doesn't bother me. I shall do a big roast NYE & then the ~diet~ really must start the next day. Have so many events lined up next year & I don't want to be hiding from the camera anymore.
Ventured into big Tesc0 yesterday & picked up some bits for next year, including a reduced scrap book pack £6, for the children to make nanny one again. It went down very well this year. It was more than I would have liked to pay but the pack is huge, everything included, & it's one present ticked off the list.
Also got a large, again reduced, Christmas teddy for £7.50. He was the last one on the shelf (looking so sad & lonely!) & we all fell in love with him. He's wearing a Nordic style jumper so will fit in lovely on the sofa next year & for many years to come..
...35 pence for 1950s style paper plates, 70 pence for the matching cake stand, oh & a chip pan! Our new tradition will be to have homemade chips on boxing day with all the left overs... yum!
Can't remember if I said before but I also picked up some Christmas activity packs from Arg0s in the sales, to go into the 2 youngest advent parcels. These were reduced from £19.99 each to £4.98!
Yep, have definitely decided to put the decorations up as early as possibly from now on, as I really do like to start the New Year with a clean & tidy house but want to get my monies worth & enjoyment out of them.

Added to my notes & lists are window net lights for the 4 front windows. I'd liked to get these ticked off ASAP as I imagine they'll be quite pricey after the summer months.

Need to start keeping tabs on what the RRPs are & what I actually pay for stuff over the coming months. Have looked at a few apps for the phone but don't like having adverts pop up so will probably buy one over the next few days.
Christmas really has become a hobbie!

Love to read what you're all up to & to see all the pics you post.
Enjoy the rest of your day x

Home Alone is the free film on iTunes today. (12 days of Christmas thingy)
Funnily enough, we only watched it over the weekend. Hubby had never seen it before.
