The north of Scotland. Good house prices, good sense of community, no water rates, no talk of money or competitiveness over what you have or don't have, good schools, less crime, beautiful scenery, good local produce,

    Atrocious weather :(

Surrey, south east Surrey to be exact.
I'm the side of Surrey furthest from London.
So its there if you want it, but far enough away too.
Halfway between London & the coast, so the coast is only a short drive away.
In a small village (handful of shops - literally - & no fast food outlets) a couple of miles from a small town :-) with a Waitrose :-) :-)
An airport handy, ports not too far away.
    M25 & M23 handy enough.
Crawley within easy reach for cinemas, restaurants, shopping, etc.
Bluewater & Brighton not too far.

    Heaven & I'm staying put!!!

Skipton in North Yorkshire has everything I need lovely Countryside and walks , a castle , the canal ( important to me as I live on a boat ) and all within walking distance of the town centre .
Harrogate nearby. Quiet, nice shops, A1 a few miles away.

    Winchester or surrounding village.

Good schools. Someone very famous (a friend) with 5 children and a 6 figure salary (or did do until recently) who could easily afford private schooling; sent their kids to the local state school since it is as good as private without having to get their cheque book out.

Close to the New Forest and south coast. IKEA within 20 minute drive :D (Southampton)

Good road networks for getting anywhere. M3, A34, A303 etc

Not a lot of local employment so you would have to work elsewhere and commute. Basingstoke and Newbury are about 20 mins drive or 1 hour to London Waterloo by train.
Mortgage free as of 10/02/2015. Every brick and blade of grass belongs to meeeee. :j

I once moved to Sunny Florida, stayed there for a couple of Years but still ended up going back to my City of birth - Rainy Manchester, as I quickly grew homesick and missed the vibrancy of the City of Manchester, where I belong and am comfortable with. I will be spending the rest of my life here. ;)

You've got me guessing now... Dormansland? It's hard because most of East Surrey isn't very far south. I'm guessing the Waitrose is Horley?
