Quality of life ! Employment unless you are Rich.
Somewhere to bring up the kids , good schools, good transport links, long life so good health.
Cheshire is a good place to start.

Norfolk for all the above and more, including superb beaches in the summer. Also, community feel and warmth from people.

Having lived in Suffolk, Lancashire, Buckinghamshire and Norfolk, Norfolk is by far the best place to live.

    Brighton

These would be on my top three places to live. I was looking at a place called Lulworth Cove in Dorset which looks very nice. No plans to move in the future though, sadly because of DH's job.

Maybe Hove would be better than Brighton as Brighton is a bit loud, though I do love it there. My friend has a flat in Kemp Town.

  • When I moved back to England, it was Devon for me - Kingsbridge in the heart of the beautiful South Hams.
  • London, currently. Live in nice leafy part of North London. Most people not aware of it. Spent today in 300 acres of park, walked to see deer, lake and views across London.

I get a bit bored of the London haters there are everywhere. Unlike small places you need to get to know it and seek out what you like/want from it. There is something for everyone.

In about 15 years we will be between London and the Kent coast, hopefully! Similar to what we have here, but on a smaller scale.

I love Polperro - I'd live there if the parking was better and if I could remote-work.

Weston super Mare. 10 minute commute to work for both DH and I. Good schools for the kids. Near airports, motorways and city centres (Bath and Bristol) for shopping. We can cycle 10 minutes from our house and be in deserted countryside we can drive for 1/2 hour and get up onto the Mendip hills. We have grockle filled seaside if we want to do the holiday maker thing and go amongst the throngs or we have quiet seaside beaches even closer which are never found by the grockles and we can fossil hunt and meander along to our hearts content.

I appreciate this area so much now I'm an adult and can compare it to places I lived as a child.
Not too far from London either if we wish to get to the big smoke.

Only bummer we have come across is the drive to Dover and Portsmouth, they are an absolute ar5e! But needs must :D.

The north of Scotland. Good house prices, good sense of community, no water rates, no talk of money or competitiveness over what you have or don't have, good schools, less crime, beautiful scenery, good local produce,

London would be fine if it wasn't for the grockles coming and cluttering up the place.
