Waitrose ordered stuffed turkey gone missing on 24th! Compensation?

To be honest, I don't over stress, although I would imagine everyone actually wants their Xmas to go well, without any hassles (unless they are masochists), and I would have taken the exchange turkey, got the stuffing etc., and used that, but this thread has got pretty unpleasant at times, and gone a bit OTT with 'different opinions'.
It seems one starts with sarcasm, and then others jump in, playing some sort of 'follow the leader', proving that far from being laid back and jolly, they are, in truth, rather spiteful.
Lin
I think some of the comments have been terse;) even nasty, but I still don't think bullying accurately describes it.
Anyway, it looks as if a lot of posts have been deleted....0 -

Thanks for all the feedback
No, not retracting the 'emotional' bit. I put my whole heart into cooking as do my sons.
Over the years I have found cooking a whole turkey stressful. Don't care if you laugh.
Why should cooking for Crhistmas be stressful?
I learnt 2 years ago when I went through a breavement in December that Christmas Eve was actually better for ordering a take away (Indian curry from well known curry house in our locality).
But I cook most of the food we eat at Christmas from scratch. Turkey was my treat - which is why I was disappointed. Only 2 out of the 5 of us like turkey, hence the beef.Thank you for your e-mail.
I was sorry to hear that the turkey you had ordered wasnot available. We appreciate that this order was important to you. I hope youwill accept my sincere apologies for the inconvenience caused.
We pride ourselves at Waitrose on the emphasis we put onCustomer Service and our products. Quitesimply, in your case, we have let ourselves down. I have taken this opportunity to discuss yourconcerns with the relevant department who would like to extend their apologies andassure you that lessons have been learnt. This will obviously inform theChristmas operation next year.
Thank you again for taking the time and trouble to bringthis matter to my attention. I canassure you that your experience does not reflect the high standards we aim toachieve and hope you will continue to shop with us at Waitrose.
Kind regards

So why try to imply you were trolling? It makes you look even sillier when you keep changing your story.0 -

I do sympathise with the situation, but for me it was the use of the word compensation in the title. You were offered compensation in the form of a new turkey which you refused, so unsure why you want something else?0 -
I'm confused now - was it turkey or beef?0

So you got all emotional and upset about not being able to cook a bit of turkey that only two out of five people dining liked? How many liked the beef?0 -

Seven words and you still couldn't spell one of them correctly.
You remind me of a John Cooper Clarke poem:
What kind of creature bore you?
Was it some kind of bat?
They can’t find a good word for you,
but I can: tw..0 -
Seriously, can I just thank everyone who had contributed to this strange, unhinged thread? Is has kept me in hysterics!January GC: £64.81/£80.00

Maybe the posters agreeing with the OP are those people who obsess about Christmas and micro-plan every last detail so that every tiny little aspect of 'THE BIG DAY' will be perfect and they understand how the OP feels as that's how they would react to a hitch in said plan.....
And maybe the posters who think there's been an over-reaction here are people who are more laid back and can take a deviation from 'the plan' in their stride without saying 'Christmas was ruined because......'
Really? I don't cook Christmas dinner, I head over to the parents. It's safe to say I'm laid back about it, yet I think this thread turned pretty nasty on the OP. I agree with what the majority were saying, that Waitrose's offer was pretty decent, but it's the pack mentality with their nasty comments, sometimes personal, and mostly unfunny, which I don't like. I bet these people actually believe they have the moral high ground too. There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.0 -
So you got no compo
I don't think I can be emotionally prepaired for this.
