  • We're off to Vegas next month for the second time, and we're very excited, we last went in December 2012 for my husband's 40th birthday and stayed at the bellagio which was amazing! This time we're staying at the cosmopolitan in a terrace one bedroom fountain view room and I can't wait!

    I have a couple of questions -

    1. We got a bargain flight with Thomas cook direct from Manchester, what's the in flight entertainment like - any good or should I stock up the iPhone with films?

    2. Our room at the cosmopolitan has a kitchenette but I'm sure I've read somewhere that you don't get any crockery? I'll want a cuppa and some cereal in my room in the morning, should I bring the travel kettle and a couple of plastic cups and bowls? Is there room in the fridge for a pint of milk and some beers or is it just a minibar fridge?

    3. We're going to SW steakhouse at the Wynn one evening before going to evil dead the musical. Would smart jeans and a shirt be acceptable dress for my husband at the restaurant or is it more of a suit place?

    4. We want to go to Jubilee, last time we were there the magazines in the back of the taxi had 2 for 1 vouchers for the show. Are these vouchers still around?

    Thanks all! X

when we stayed in a terrace one bedroom the fridge was full with things to purchase but there was a freezer compartment that was empty. I am sure I have read that you can ask to have the fridge emptied. I don't recall any crockery - but we always bring travel mugs as we normally buy a coffee maker...pretty sure someone (penny or duchy?) have said you can ask for crockery? Or maybe I am making that up.

the terrace suite had a full size fridge freezer with tons of space for your own things but the terrace one bedroom had the under counter style fridge and because it had a freezer compartment the fridge part was smaller than a lot of them that are fridge only. But if memory serves we just filled the ice bucket and put a few drinks in it before we went out and before we went to bed so for milk you could just do that if there is no room in the fridge.

I thought our video might have included a quick fridge opening but it doesn't look like it.

Pebblesmax we also fly out of Manchester and because of the lack of direct flights they are in general always full.I only go in August and am already getting worked up about when I can select seats,I know the date I can do it but I will be trying some days before aswell!
After the nightmare we had in Nov with BA seats at the back my fear is now not what is at the side of me it's what's in front that worries me the most!!!!!(a 7ft giant!!)
I think if there are no seats upstairs we might go for 2 aisle seats or even if it's available seat plus and pay for an empty seat next to us!OH doesn't understand why I get so worked up about it but then again he always has the best seat and I get to sit next to the stranger next to us!!!
My OH always gets the best seat as well. So not fair! I suppose it's better than him wingeing all the way there.

This is us too...since he's a window guy and I am an aisle girl...it just doesn't make sense for both of us to be disappointed so if forced to a 3-seat configuration he'll get his window. He does get it though and does offer to take the middle if we have to fly in a 3-seat row and a good part of our justification for flying PE is him getting it and not wanting me to be uncomfortable the whole flight if the pairs at the back are too hard to get. :)

I positively enjoy flying non direct as I get to grab some fresh air half way .....and get to get off the plane in Vegas and head straight for the cab or shuttle without faffing..........and it's cheaper..........and you're pretty much guaranteed not to be stuck for ten hours on a plane with a loud stag party. On the last point if a US carrier flew direct I'd be more likely to use them as US carriers are a lot less likely to allow drunks to board than UK airlines.

  • Thomas cook , terrible IFE, make sure you take your own, also you have to pay for EVERYTHING, headphones , drinks, snacks, and good manners is usually optional for the cabin crew !

The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

I too am flying Thomas Cook and will be loading up the laptop with films (preferably Vegas themed :D ). Are you intending to watch times on an iPhone?! You'll be blind by the time you land from the eye-strain, the screens tiny! ;)
Currently saving and planning for the holiday of a lifetime to Vegas in summer 2014!
