As promised my trip adviser review of Oscars
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

Just a quick heads up on a current scam in hotels, particularly for first time visitors.

Apart from a few timeshare people, I've never experienced any odd behaviour or scams (I don't mean timeshare people are scammers!), so dont let it put you off!

Seems this may be a hoax though and not verified, although it is a good reminder to be careful:

Hubby had a bit of a problem with his credit card last June @ mirage. When we were checking out he paid 3 x resort fee in cash and got receipts for it.When we were back in the UK and about a month later his credit card bill came and there on it was $210 charge to the Mirage. When he contacted them at first they said it was the resort fee to which he said That he had receipts for that so they said they would investigate. It turned out that it was a drinks bill for $160 and a $50 tip charged to our room!!!We did have a bit of a problem proving it wasn't us but they did checked the tab and found it was a different surname to ours so eventually they did refund it.When we thought about it after what is to stop anyone picking a room number at random and putting everything on their bill???Had to laugh at the $50 tip though!

I think I have always been asked for my surname and then its checked against that room nmber, when charging to the room so they would have to know that

whenever we've charged to the room in Vegas we've always been asked our surname too...some places we have the little card we get at check-in too. I am pretty sure we've been asked for ID as well (it's a bit hazy at the minute and it could be that we just hand ID over without waiting to be asked as we just assume).

Other places, I agree it would be quite easy to do...I did it accidentally once in Berlin...I swapped two digits of my room number around without realising it...

I just hope that Groupon Support will agree to refund our 6 tickets! Anyhow, I recommend MagicJack.
I've found Groupon support to be very accommodating. You shouldn't have a problem getting 'credit' back (I don't think they will refund to your card, you'll get some Groupon Bucks to use on something else... I could be wrong though)

:o did you find it difficult to explain all the fruity cocktails you and your friends appeared to have consumed at the hotel bar? ;)

  • Was wondering if anyone had any experience with this?

A party of 6 of us are flying to Vegas in June. 4 of us were initially ready to book, so we booked through Lastminute.com, and then a few weeks later the other 2 were ready to book so they booked through Ebookers.com.

We booked onto the exact same flights there and back. However, the 2 who booked on Ebookers.com have just had an email saying:
This is with regards to the airline booking you made with ebookers.com.

We have been informed by the airline that there has been a change to your flight(s) due to an operational schedule change the airline has made to their planned flight timings. We do understand that changes like these can have an impact on your travel plans and our endeavor here is to minimize any inconvenience and assist you with best possible option.

Below are the options which the airline has communicated to us for you to choose from.
Please be advised that this schedule change is affecting only the flight from las vegas to london.

Details on Original Booking and options:

    Original booked flight details

    14-Jun-2014
    Las Vegas to Seattle
    Delta Air Lines 4710
    Departs: 03:00 PM
    Arrives: 05:30 PM

    Alternatives available to choose from:

    Option 1

    14-Jun-2014
    Las Vegas to Seattle
    Delta Air Lines 4597
    Departs: 11:16 AM
    Arrives:01:51 PM

However, the rest of us who booked through Lastminute.com haven't received any such email. What might this mean?

    a) Lastminute just haven't got round to sending the email out yet?
    b) the flight isn't actually rescheduled and Ebookers are just trying to change the booking?

Would appreciate if anyone has any experience with this!

Have you checked the flight times on Delta's web site?

Good idea! Just did and they are no longer quoting the 3pm flight, only the 11.16am one. I suppose that means the flight is rescheduled and Lastminute just haven't gotten round to sending out an email yet?

Pretty annoying as it means we are losing 4 hours in Vegas on our last day! Oh well I wonder if we can leave the airport in Seattle and wander around for a bit...

No reason why you can't - your bags will be checked at Las Vegas through to the UK and there's a light railway link from the airport to downtown http://www.soundtransit.org/schedules/central-link-light-rail.

Just go through security and remember to allow time to go back through security on the way back.

I'd ring last minute and get them to confirm the change (to make sure they don't rebook you on another connection) though.
