Sixt prices seem very steep to me. It may just because they are new and haven't got a feel for the market yet.0

Currently looking at car hire for our September trip, might leave it a while though and see if a better deal comes up.
I'm curious - has anyone found any other good companies to book through lately? I was looking up rentalcars.com (previously carhire 3000). I want to use Dollar, returning to Treasure Island so it's a bit limited. When I looked a while ago Netflights (who I always used) don't do that any more. Bit disappointing.
If anyone has any good ideas for companies to use, please let me know. I just tried Holiday Autos and it was very confusing regarding excess, and I also like to do the platinum all inclusive package and couldn't see that on there.
Be careful how you play this there are a few horror stories out there about the lower priced rental firms. Do your homework and check the reviews.
To be honest they are probably not that much cheaper. I hired a compact yesterday for 5 days collect at Paris Casino and return to the airport when I fly out (I don't want it for the full trip as the first 3 days we will limit ourselves to the strip and downtown).
The price difference was about £20.00 between the lowest which was rentalcars.com and Hertz. for £20 I am happy with the peace of mind I know I will get with Herzt. 5 days came in at just over £100.000 -
Why do people prefer Virgin? I find them overly expensive.
I flew Virgin a couple of times when I lived in the South but since I moved up to Lancashire I go from Manchester.
There isn't a direct flight and you have to change in Philly (around 90 mins between flights) but with a £700 saving return for 2 adults that is something I can live with.
US Airways brand new Airbus's with a daily flight out of Manchester every morning.0 -
Of course it depends when you book and direct will generally be more expensive than indirect. Virgin won't be much different to BA direct.
It's horses for courses, between those 2. We've always flown Virgin and never had a problem.
And for me I'd always fly direct to Vegas, I couldn't be doing with changing0 -

rentalcars.com will price match...they will also lower your price if it drops on their site and you ask...for our April rental I did dutifully check the other sites that have been mentioned and rentalcars.com was still cheapest for our dates comparing airport pick-up and drop off since most don't give TI as an option...since we prefer to pick up at TI anyway, we went with rentalcars.com again since I can't see any benefit in going with someone else.
We've used them for several years now and have never had an issue...I do check prices other places every time someone mentions netflights, etc. but I think netflights hate me as it's never cheaper for our dates.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -

These have all been refurbished now to match the Heathrow fleet. From repeat experiences with both airlines, I'd take Virgin over BA any day. Our next trip will be PE as well, with UC return if the budget stretches to it.
My main issue with virgin the couple of times I've flown direct was more to do with the drunkeness of passengers rather than the plane. BA was the same price for PE but I flew PE to Asia last year with them and wasn't impressed which is why I thought I'd risk Virgin.0 -

Fair point. I haven't had drunken passengers yet, but it's generally a noisier flight on either airline than I would like. I always avoid the peak seasons and tend to fly mid-week though, which I think keeps the party crowds down.
I don't like BA PE. But apparently they're upgrading their offering, will be interested to see what they do. It would have to be pretty special to consider a switch though, as I'm not a fan of the airline in general. Why do people prefer Virgin? I find them overly expensive.

Wow, I've never seen that big a price difference between direct or indirect on this route. It's usually more like £100 (also for 2) or so. But I fly off peak, as already mentioned.
They fly direct, that's the entire reason for me.0 -
SixT just opened in Vegas, and are stupidly expensive compared to the other rentals (for Brits that is)....
Although, they do do the Dodge Charger RT (V8), although 1 week is pushing £377! which is rubbish, very!!!! Worth keeping an eye on them though......
I find netflights are cheaper to book same car as u would with Alamo, than going direct to Alamo.co.uk, like £21 cheaper (I do +fuel option), and booking through most UK agents, we get full CDW and LIS (no excess, no nothing!)
Although, last year, on 25th Feb, I logged onto Alamo.co.uk, and rentals for 1 week, had: Convert, and the Caddy CTS/DTS cheaper than a compact!! just on that day, so booked my convert (£170 inc fuel for 1 week in May!)
So checking every day as I do, hope Alamos website does the same this year!0 -
