Just a heads-up for anyone flying Virgin Atlantic.
The choosing seats procedure has changed again.

Looks to me like its either pay £25 per person (EACH WAY !!!!) or wait until 24 hours before departure.... if you are flying economy and if you are flying club red
think this is the same as BA0 -
This looks a bit clearer, I think:

i guess it's standard practice across most long-haul airlines?
but either way I think it's bang out of order.0 -

What is standard practice?
If you mean the charging, I dont have experience with many airlines but I have used Delta, KLM and Emirates to fly longhaul recently and all allow free seat reservations at the time of booking so not sure its standard practice0 -

British Airways charge unless you have status or are travelling first class. It becomes free 24 hour before departure time. ((Actually 24 hour before the first departure on your booking, so if you have a connecting regional domestic flight you have a slight advantage.)I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Virgin's website is generally terrible compared to others and their help/FAQ sections are equally bad...they haven't updated all the relevant links with the new info.
We're flying PE in March - it's not clear if we should be able to select seats now or not...I checked and I can't so I guess maybe trying on 18th November will make sense? Unless they change it again...seems we have been in a similar position with a date that has been scrapped at least twice before?Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
also
Flying Club Red members travelling in Economy will be able to select seats free of charge 72 hours before departure.
It's free to join their flying club and red is the first level...so at the very least there is an opportunity to pick seats without paying in advance of online check-in opening 24-hours before?Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
I have recently booked for next june with thomascookairlines and delta as stopping over in ny first and was charged by both airlines to prebook my seats0

Hi all,
51 more days and we're on our way, I am sure it will fly! It is slowly coming together, after a slow start of no planning. JT tickets booked, Britney as well thanks to a good friend, no shows as yet, but considering a little gamble on the new Wynn show. Although maybe worth waiting a bit to see the reviews?
Anyway, I am guessing popular restaurants book out for New Years Eve quickly. But I am reluctant to book early as most no doubt will have set menus. Does anyone here have any suggestions? We will be staying at the Mirage for NYE, so needs to be close (ish), one option we've looked at was Heritage steak at the Mirage. We expect anything that night to be expensive, and not MSE at all.
Also, does anyone know about how you can buy tickets to be at the top of the Eiffel Tower for NYE? I am guessing the view will be awesome (Linq is crazy price unless you are a big group..) and would be worth it?
Thanks as always for your help
Also in vegas over the new years for a week (New york for 5 days before for xmas) Maybe see you floating about somewhere :beer:0
