PF Chang's on the Strip 4/10/2014 - 6/11/2014 - potential security issues with cards used during this period.

Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

Hi all! It's been a good few years since I've been in Vegas, but the OH and I are thinking about going back next year. What I'd also love to do is visit Lake Tahoe so the tentative plan is a couple of days in Vegas, a couple of days up in Tahoe, and back down to Vegas before home (possibly 10 days in total).

The thing that's throwing me is the time of year. We'd like to go the last week of March, but would we actually be able to get to Tahoe or will it be too snowy to drive? I've done a lot of Googling, and everyone says it's fine providing you have snow chains, but a) I'm not sure you can use them on rentals and b) we're not confident we can drive with them on! We'd be keeping to main roads (probably route 395 or 95) but is this the wrong time of year to be thinking about this?

We visited Reno/North Lake Tahoe in early April this year. We didn't have a problem with the weather at that time, although friends of ours went the following week and had to turn back on the way back to Vegas due to ice and hail. They may have driven back thought Yosemite though, we just drove back the same way apart from a little detour to Virginia City.

We drove US 95/US50/US 95 both ways. It was a pretty boring drive, but we enjoyed it once we got there.

The thing with the High Roller is that a) you cannot take your own drinks with you (no bottle water, no nothing) and b) drinks are expensive in the bar! I would think the deal is good if you plan on having a few drinks before going up, it is an ok area to hang about for a bit, but we found the waiters quite rude, and it does get quite crowded. You can also go back to the bar after your trip of you so want.

I think the open bar is for a bar inside the pod itself. So for the 30 minutes you are in the pod. I wonder if they have a few pods with bars in them, the rest without...or can you buy drinks in all pods. Could be quite busy if only one bartender in the pod and lots of people getting drinks.

I agree with ferf...would be good to see reviews first. I was talking myself into it last night and now photome makes me think it could be scary. :(

Flying to Reno will probably be the better option, we looked at this last year and decided against the long drive

Mmm, could be but we never did see any pods with bars when we went in June. However considering they are no doubt trying to extract as much revenue as possible, it wouldn't surprise me! Hubby is scared of heights, and nervous as hell. And at first he barely moved (not helped by 3 kids running from one end to the other, not in a bad way I will add), but soon he forgot about the height and just enjoyed the view. We read a tip online to go up 10 - 15 minutes before sun sets, thus getting 2 experiences of the wheel in one, by seeing Vegas at day and at night. If you can, it is well worth it :)

Dont let me put you off, I was only relating my own experience. ;)

I assumed the bar was on the ground, I cant imagine there being bars in the pods

It does read like they have bar pods

REMINDER: Everyday 4-7pm is #OpenBar in one of our bar-pods on the High Roller Vegas!

Personally I would avoid them but that's just me...I understand it might appeal to others...but to us I could just see it being really crowded and people trying to max out the value...I'd rather be in a pod that was a bit calmer...but I am old. :)

I'm not sure if we will do high roller. I can see how it could be off putting being in a bar pod. So hard to tell without doing it though, isn't it. You might only manage to get one drink, and it might not even be a good drink....and might be crammed with demanding folk who want to drink as much as possible.

Wee bonus on Social Rewards today, they've added The Cromwell, so I'm getting a bit of a points boost right now as there are a load of things that don't require the use of daily shares, and at 15 points each :) Only one video though. Good boost for me though so close to my trip! :T
