    Hi

We have decided to go to Vegas for Christmas (well travelling on Christmas Day) and think we have got our top 3 hotels and would love your advice on them.

    They are:-

    Luxor Resort and Casino
    Excalibur Hotel and Casino
    Flamingo Las Vegas

As this is our first visit we thought it would be better to stay on the strip. We usually like low key holidays but want to experience Vegas at least once.

    Many thanks

We saw the forever DooWop show. It was very good. It's the same group of musicians that do both shows. We will be seeing the other in September.

Pebbles - do you arrive before the 19th? I was thinking you were going in October...but your trips can span a few months :rotfl:

The R steak at Riviera is on groupon at mo $50 for $100

thanks again for this, my friend confirmed it was the restaurant they were so impressed with last year so I went ahead and bought one...took a few attempts as for the first time Groupon's site kept rejecting my billing address and only US and Canada options were given in the drop-down lists and choosing a random US state and my UK postcode was rejected and I was asked for a valid zip code...in the end I used Nevada and 89109 and it went through. We regularly are contacted by our CC after buying Groupons so I fully expect to be this time. :)

Any reason those are your top 3?
    Why did you choose them?
How much would you be paying and for how many nights?
Hotels booked direct or on a package?

Not being nosey, but the answers will help the regulars here know if they are suitable or whether there is better value elsewhere.

Of the three I'd go for the Flamingo as it is nicer than Excalibur and more centrally situated than the Luxor. Standard rooms are recently renovated and the higher grade Go rooms are very nice. Rooms with a view overlook the Belagio fountains.

After I posted I thought you had seen the doowop. The tickets from Riviera for Motor city are just over $100 for 2 but from goldstar are $40 for 2, think I am going to book them and then use my R steak voucher before the show as it doesnt start till 9pm

They were the 3 recommended by the travel agent we spoke to who had been to Vegas and these hotels were central and someone he knew had stayed in them. We have read trip adviser and am not sure as there are the obvious conflicting reports.

Sorry forgot to mention we have been looking online and came across the Marriott Grand Chataue 1 and 2 and wondered if anyone had stayed here. We have read that it is a little way out but we walk for miles when we can so don't think this would be a problem.

We are looking for 7 nights flying 25 Dec (it's OH birthday Christmas Day so wanted to make his 50th special) upto £2500 inc flights (trying to be moneysaving :rotfl:)

We have never booked flights direct but am willing to try if it works out cheaper and l know you all have wonderful advice for newbies to this like me :o
