Part of the reason for going Christmas Day is it is OH's birthday Christmas Day and for once l wanted the day to be about his birthday as it is his 50th and we also thought it would be nice to spend New Year's Eve in Vegas.Stash Busting Challenge 2016 6/520 -
NYE in Vegas is an experience...we're glad we did it but would not do it again, just too crowded for us...but again, we're glad we did it as it is an experience.
If your OH's birthday is on Christmas Day maybe flying a day or two before would be better if you can - so he doesn't spend his birthday in airports on a plane and possibly crash when he finally gets to the hotel? The period before NYE is one of if not the cheapest time in Vegas in terms of hotels but obviously things ramp up a lot closer to NYE.
Maybe have a look at flight prices across your possible dates to see if any combination works out a bit better on flights and see what that might do for your budget.
You could consider more than one hotel as well, though with your OH's birthday on Christmas Day if you do stay to NYE then that might mean starting at the nicer hotel and moving to the less expensive which might be a bit of a downer.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -

It's possible to fly from Cambridge via Amsterdam, but there don't appear to be any direct flights from Amsterdam to Las Vegas so you'd have a second change somewhere in the USA (unless you like the idea of flying to Los Angeles and driving). I haven't checked how prices compare, but you'd save the cost and pain of travelling to Heathrow or Gatwick.

(BTW I checked and that is Cambridge, England and not Cambridge in Massachusetts or Ontario)"Such an enormous country, you realize when you cross it" - Jack Kerouac0 -
Do you really want your OH to spend his birthday hanging round airports and travelling?
I think it would be far better to fly out a couple of days beforehand then go for a nice meal on his birthday.
Remember you don't have to got for the traditional 7 nights. By picking the right hotels you can probably make your budget stretch to 8 nights by flying out on Christmas Eve and you can still be there for NYE if that is what you want.
We did 2 connections this year instead of the usual one connecting at LHR then flying non-stop. It was fine and a lot better than I remembered. However we connected in Amsterdam which is a far better experience than any of the London airports.

Just done some pricing on Lowcostusa.
You can get 4 nights in a Flamingo Go room with a view of the Bellagio fountains 24 December for £239 and 4 nights at the Westin, 5 mins walk to the strip, from 28 December for £354 which is in your budget.
However if you are intending flying on 24 December I would think about booking soon a pre-Christmas flights are often busy.0 -
Have a look at the flight and hotel options on Ba.com Kit1.
There's an option to fly out on 25th December from Heathrow (flying US Airways to Vegas via Charlotte) returning on 1st January, staying at the Venetian.
Total cost £2567 with a £300 deposit paid now. There are other options on there too.0 -
Hi !!
I'm new here. I apologise in advance if I ask stupid questions.
I've just started planning our 1st trip for February 2015. Its a "BIG" birthday for me so looking to make it special.
Is the Palazzo the only hotel that has the lounge with complimentary hors d'oeuvres and cocktails with some of their rooms/suites ??0 -
Hmmm, probably a limited audience for this question (... SecretMachines
)
Just seen that Nocturne @ Rose.Rabbit.Lie has shut down
We had tickets for next month (presume a refund will be forthcoming on that one!)
We had a restaurant booking @ Rose.Rabbit.Lie, my question is, is it worth bothering with the food now. I think you mentioned it was expensive and also that the show forms part of the whole experience.
Thoughts?0 -
I read on Fivehundybymidnight that they are giving refunds, no need to request them. The person who posted got a call from the concierge to inform them of the refund. The concierge let them know that there will be similar entertainment, plus a band and singers going on in the Vegas Nocturne space.
Hope that helps.0 -

Might be of interest to some. One night only, 22 July, wish I could go.0
