Sorry I haven't read all 107 pages yet but just to ask a quick question.
We have never been to the USA before and were thinking about going to Vegas for Christmas (plan is to get away from Christmas) would this be a good time to visit and would anything be open?

I have to say looking at the rooms, Paris seems more up my street while my OH is very keen on PH. Is it that the storage in the basic PH rooms is just what surrounds the tv? That's all we had in NYNY (3 drawers, small wardrobe and a place for luggage)
I agree that PH has more of a party vibe, and that's coming from a 23 year old! But we were kicking it down the family end of the strip most of the time.
Yes the storage is just what surrounds the TV, I never found it a problem but I know others have. I've stayed there 4 times I think, first in a HH then always had success with $20 trick booking a HH and getting a resort room with fountain view. I've only stayed at Paris once and again booked basic room but with tip got a "P" room.
Which ever you choose you don't have far to go to the other one!0 -
Its 10 mins to MGM and then another 20 to the strip
But why would you go that way?
To get central go out of Signature by the guard house, up Harman, and in less than 10 minutes you are right outside PlanetHo, Cosmo, Aria, Paris, etc. Even getting a cab would only cost you $5.
As for people saying they would be better more central, what's there for a group of lads?
Wynn/Encore have more/better clubs and better pools. TI has Gillys and Signor Frogs, Palazzo/Venetian has some nice places to eat and good clubs as well, so I would contend that a group of lads would be better placed North strip if anythingThe common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.0 -

I would love to go to Vegas for Christmas...one year we will - I have said that we're going for my 50th birthday which is a few days before Christmas if we have not been by then. I think it would be fantastic. It won't be pool weather though and could be quite cold...once we were there late December/early January and it was waaaay colder than at home...I only mention it as some people think it's the desert so it's hot all year and it really isn't.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -

My friend said its a 10 minute walk and means you can have a couple of beers if your on your way to a club.
I like the idea of being close enough to the strip that it's 10 min walk to party central but also able to grab at least a few hours sleep in a quieter area.0 -

I suppose that when you put it that way...it's just part of the whole Vegas thing to us is still walking out of the lift into a casino and it all just being right there in front of us...I know that's not the case for everyone...but for a group of young lads it just seems like a better fit at a high-level.
I'm not sure I understand the 10 minutes/few beers thing since you can drink between most point As and point Bs in Vegas anyway, though.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -

Dude, it's not like a Spanish beach holiday. Even if you had a room in one of the liveliest hotels on the strip you'd be able to get sleep in your room. It's not like you'll be able to hear the sound system from the club! :rotfl:
My first trip was as a 21 year old and we stayed at Imperial Palace (Now The Quad) which as PERFECT for youngsters to explore, have fun and for a simple place to rest your head. More money in your back pocket to spend on other things too!0 -

Agree in general but there are some rooms that placement means you do hear the sound system from the club...also, last trip we were in the Augustus Tower at Caesars and there was a big event at the pool...our windows were vibrating at the bass until at least 1am, I think possibly 2 or 3...we could most certainly hear the music in our room and we were quite high up and nearly as far away from the pool as possible in that tower. I dread to think what the pool-facing Palace Tower rooms were like that night.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0
