Ahhh, they are nothing to write home about, you're right much better offers out there. Thanks for responding.

we don't get much but every now and again there is some random free night or two at Luxor or Mirage. Nowhere else. Why Luxor and Mirage, I'm not sure...they aren't the properties we play at most...they aren't the cheapest. It's odd.

Did you do that upgrade using the "eStandby" upgrade options that are presented after you book?

I'm in a bit of a quandry (already!), so, as ferf has pointed out before, CET is a funny old game!

Costs for just my TotalRewards Card:
    Fab Deluxe = $16.80 (+ resort + taxes)
    Go Deluxe King = $174.40 (+ resort + taxes)

Costs for my TotalRewards Card with wife as additional
    Fab Deluxe = $0 (+ resort + taxes)
    Go deluxe king = $210 (+ resort + taxes)

So cheaper room is cheaper with both of us, whilst more expensive room is cheaper with just me... very odd!

Given the choice of the above photome, for 4 nights, what would you do? I'm tempted to go for Fab Deluxe for free, and look at the eStandby upgrade option offered after booking (but never done that before)

I didnt do estandby (dont know what it is) It was the price i got when logged in with both TR cards, it was only $8 a night over the comped Fab room

If it was me I would go with the Fab deluxe (they are ok rooms) and maybe hope for an upgrade but be prepared not to get one.

The only upgrade I have got for a $20 bribe at Flamingo was a larger room on the top floor with a strip view, if you look at front of Flamingo you can see them as they overhang the floors below

This happens to us too...hubby + me is sometimes more expensive than hubby + unnamed/non-TR card number person. He never lets me hear the end of it. But during the same search some rooms/hotels will be less with me added.

    It is very odd.

The pic below is the Harrahs room we have booked, so quite happy with that. It is billed as a High Roller (ie. view of the back - lol) Premium View King Room

edit: Changed to a link as weirdness was happening with quotes
Link to a picture of the room is here: https://www.totalrewards.com/images/reservations/las/rooms/HarrahsHiRoller.Suite3446_KingBed.jpg

We can get a "Classic King" at Rio, but (on the basis $20 trick is not guaranteed) we would be disappointed with the standard of that room and possibly the location - even though there is a shuttle

We can get the following for 4 nights total (exc. resort fee and tax):
Paris - Luxury 1 King Bed for $27 total --> stayed here, not fussed about returning - dull pool!

Rio - Classic King for free --> base room, off-strip - unsure

PH - Hollywood hip for $83 total --> I'd kill myself if I had to sit at this pool again

Flamingo - Fab deluxe --> unsure, but had the feeling the base rooms at Flamingo were a bit scabby?

Ballys - Indigo Tower Deluxe or Luxury --> we would have gone for this if we weren't moving to Platinum afterwards - to close, so not enough variety

Quad - Deluxe Luv Tub for free --> tho the name reminds me too much of a scene from Dumb and Dumber, I may have a look :/

Caesars - Roman Tower for $280 total --> hmm, best not :D

Opinions are always welcome though :)

Not sure I believe you won't be going next year :rotfl:

As for the rooms, if you're not comfortable with the location of Rio, don't do it. As for their rooms, we've stayed in their basic rate rooms twice (at least). First stay was in the Masquerade Tower, which we liked because of the parking being close to there. Next stay (on same trip) we asked for the Ipanema tower and got a really low floor with air con units making a noise outside. We asked for a new room and got a better location in the Ipanema tower. I'm sure this tower is much better for the pool. Neither tower is terrible, and we'd stay there again at the right price.

Harrah's - never stayed there, but is the pool really bad? To be honest I think the Platinum pool is a bit boring, however we just like to sunbathe and chill out so I can't imagine the pool at Harrah's is that bad. The only problem pool we've had in Vegas is at Desert Rose and that was because we could never get sunloungers. Could be worse than Harrah's I'm sure. On the plus side, I thought the room looks really good. Much better than I thought the rooms at Harrah's would be. Location is fantastic too, handy for the plus places at the North end of the strip, and also Fashion Show Mall.

I don't really get decent offers from CET, in fact sometimes the rates are better when I'm not logged in!

I think the main concern with Harrahs is lack of pool space (from what we've read), as opposed to the actual pool itself.

We've read similar re: Flamingo TBH (because it allows 'outsiders' in for a price, and seems a decent pool), but hoping that because we are there Mon - Fri, it shouldn't be too much of an issue.

We've gone for Flamingo now anyways - budget is still taken into account (though the resort fee is $2 more! :o:D )

Thought I'd come on quickly to say we got back from Vegas on Saturday.. and we're already planning our next trip! :o Watching Get Him to the Greek before bed knowing we were coming to work the next day really didn't help matters :p

Just wondering about peoples experiences with Planet Hollywood or Paris? From wandering the strip these where probably our two favourite hotels. Loved the NYNY but felt it was a little low on the strip and with the sheer heat, anything further than PH had to be taxi'd to or walked to at night. TBH, making it across the walk ways to joining casinos was enough on the hottest days!

We prefer Paris to PH. Nicer rooms and a nicer pool area. We found there was very little shortage space at PH which meant living out of the suitcases.

Hey all! Just under 4 weeks until we travel to USA, finishing with 4 nights in Vegas!! Staying at the MGM Signature, anyone else stayed there before? Trip advisor looks positive.

Four 21 year old guys hitting Vegas for the first time..you can imagine the excitement!
