I have an odd question... does anyone know if it's possible to rent from Hertz WITHOUT having CDW included.

I have coverage elsewhere so it is not needed - thinking it would save a few bucks! :)

I have tried the US site but it is insisting on including it :(
I think lots of car rental companies insist on you using their insurance, that's why I never bought one of the ones you can get quite cheaply to cover you.
It' set here way of maximising the income from you.
On a similar note I notice that Dollar now have "pick up full, return full" policy, nice to see.
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

There will be a picture of this in my TR but the thermometer I bought has hit 50c by the pool at the Platinum, for those that have not stayed here, we call it the oven. It got there within a couple of minutes, I'm sure it would have gone higher but it only goes up to 50, May go and buy an oven one to try out.

5 nights compd at Caesars is some good going! Because I can only really go once a year if I'm being responsible I've got to be clever with my play.

On my upcoming trip I will be giving most of my play to Cosmo and just minimum stake entertainment slots before/after shows/food at other properties.

It would be nice to know before hand what Aria/Bellagio would want in terms of coin-in for comps. Would hate to play there (because I'll be playing somewhere for sure) and not get something in return.

the only one I found that would not force the various waivers on if you indicated you had a UK licence was Dollar. I declined all the coverage for a few years when it was much cheaper to do so and use my US CC for insurance coverage...but once the difference got to be quite small I stopped bothering and swapped to CH3000.

I'm sure in my hertz gold profile you can select whether or not you want quotes with cdw included. What i did find is it was actually cheaper with cdw.

Thanks guys - the rental cover comes with my credit card as a perk - so bit gutted about that.

As things stand, its cheaper to use Netflights for a Hertz hire, than the Hertz site (strangely, no availability is showing for any rental firm on CH3000 for me - not looked into why?) Pickup SAN, Dropoff LAS can't be an unusual combo!

Good shout - I've checked my profile and it's already set to decline for USA rentals. I've sent Hertz a message :)

we learned a lesson a few years ago...we were surprised to see 3 nights at Caesars comped as we NEVER had any Caesars comps...so we jumped on it...it was a 3-night trip after visiting family so was perfect...then we seemed to get 5 nights from them and stayed a few times...then when PH joined the group I really wanted to stay there...so we did (hubby's 40th birthday trip, too - I took PH Hollywood Hip room over Caesars Palace Tower because I am just that stupid) and regretted it...and then the Caesars offers stopped so it was a double-whammy and I felt terrible. It was only last trip - 4 years later - we had anything from Caesars again and that was Forum Tower so we jumped at the chance again (asked nicely and upgraded to Augustus and were thrilled).

So it does seem that where you play may impact what hotels they offer...maybe.

It's all relative though...we don't necessarily do that well in CET casinos...and sometimes we think that maybe we should go for a lesser offer elsewhere and not stick with the comped rooms - but it's hard to pay for them when we know we can get them "free". We do like TI and they are usually pretty good to my husband but they seem to be tightening up.

does anyone else think that based on the number of Groupon and Living Social deals for The High Roller that they've finally realised that they have overpriced themselves? :)

I got a 20% off groupon email, so I've bought a groupon for the Rio dinner buffet for 2 with bottle of wine. Was $49 but I got it for $39. Bargain! Usual price is $30.99 per person, plus the wine would be pricey I think. I would not be likely to pay for wine, but as part of a deal it's actually pretty good at $39 for 2 I think!

    Mortgage-free Glee!
    Thanks Lesley,

Just did exactly the same. We don't drink wine so I might try and swing a cheeky replacement something or other but, at $30.99 each for the buffet normally, $39 for 2 is a no brainer for a buffet we've been wanting to try for ages anyway.

    Cheers,
