My husband has Social Rewards points missing when he has cashed them out into Total Rewards.

He has sent them an email to report it, including redemption code. Never heard a thing back, points never appeared. :(

Wammer, I know you were getting some issues resolved recently, do you perhaps have a contact at Social Rewards/Total Rewards?

I used the feedback button on the Social Rewards site which is the same email address that is in the email confirmation for redemptions.

Hope you manage to get it resolved.

You think CES is big, we have just come to the end of Electric Daisy Carnival, 130k attendees the opening night. Never seen so many bare @rses walking around. Note to come again same time next year
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

I was there during EDC last year, was honestly speechless at some of what I saw. Anyone who's interested Google EDC (probs best not to do it at work though...)

My first time on the Vegas thread, so be kind!
Myself and DH have booked to go to LAX fom 28/8 - 9/9, with the intention of driving to Las Vegas.
Got a extremely cheap BA fare through the CPH loophole route, just hoping it doesn't get cancelled first.(I don't know if they can)
    Now here's a few questions:

    - Is it true that car rental places try to make you wait until the following day of a longhaul flight?

    - Staying on Labor Day weekend in LV... are we likely to find any cheap deals at good hotels?

We're looking at staying at Silver Sevens for some week nights, but we want to stay at a 3/4* hotel on the holiday weekend.
    - Is Priceline/Hotwire/Groupon a good place for getting a good deal at the Stratosphere or Luxor?

If anyone has any insider info or email deals, please could you be so kind as PM me.

I've been playing myvegas for around 2 weeks but found it hard to earn more than 1k of gold in a day. What do you achieve per day?

Also we need to find a cheap as chips hotel for sightseeing around Los Angeles (4ni), does anyone have any suggestions?
    Thanks in advance!

Re the CPH bit - no issue starting your route from there as long as you start it from there and don't expect that you can just get on at LHR.

I'm doing the same but doing mine starting in Dublin instead. Fly to Dublin on a Thursday morning and then fly back to LHR at lunchtime and then go to Vegas in the afternoon - knocked £400 off the flight price.

There's no such restriction for renting normal cars. However, I've read that some RV (motorhome) rental companies have that policy.

You might like to consider Motel 6. I've used them in small-to-medium sized towns throughout large parts of the USA for twenty years and always found them excellent - but they are a bit basic for some people's tastes (think Aldi or Lidl, not Waitrose!). However, in a big city I'd strongly advise reading the reviews for individual locations (for example on Google Maps). At the next price point upwards, try Super 8. Then after that you're into Days Inn, Holiday Inn Express, La Quinta, etc. A lot depends on the area - the further out from the city centre the better value for money (and IMHO the more pleasant and safer the area, but that's just my opinion). Since Los Angeles is huge, you might want to think about possibly staying in various places on different nights.

have a read of the first page for a lot of good info...is there a reason you have chosen Silver Sevens? And why you'd like to be on the strip for the weekend (most expensive) vs a few week nights?

A few on here have found good deals on Priceline but you have to be very careful. Lesley has posted some tips before.

I would be more inclined to consider Priceline for LA than Vegas but that's just me...we got a good deal in LA via Priceline but our needs weren't like yours - just one night and didn't need a good place to base ourselves for sightseeing. Just be careful you will be happy with an offer in the area and star rating you've chosen as once your offer has been accepted that's it.

As for driving from LA after a long-haul flight, I'm not aware of any restrictions like you describe and people do do it. I cannot imagine it myself...it's mostly a long, boring, straight drive...I found it tiring after a good night's sleep but I'm normally the only driver.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

Agreed - driving from LAX to Las Vegas directly after a long-haul flight isn't a good idea - but maybe you planned to do the LA sightseeing at the start?

If you do drive from LAX to Las Vegas, then I'd advise heading north and then west*, (i.e. going via Santa Clarita and Palmdale, north of the San Bernardino Mountains). That will avoid the worst of the LA freeways that you'd encounter if you went east and then north (i.e. keeping south of the mountains and going via the city of Ontario, etc). Both of those possible routes join at Victorville, then it's I-15 all the way to Las Vegas.

    * Correction: north and then east. My thanks to the later poster for pointing out the typo.

    No, that's RV rentals

    Nope-weekend + Labor day

Priceline is not usually a good bargain LV-Someone wrote a guide a while back;)
