Part of my Xmas present this year was 2 nights at the Palazzo for my birthday, so we will be there from the 28th May until the 30th at least. Thinking of escaping Vegas that weekend, and return on the 2nd until the 10th June.

BTW, anyone got any good ideas for a nice weekend away from Vegas (3 nights)? So far we've looked at Memphis (our favourite so far), San Fran (would probably like a bit more time), Houston (not feeling it) and San Diego (thinking too crowded that weekend).

Never thought I would be bitten by the Vegas bug, but alas, now planning my 4th trip in 2 years!

How about Denver, Phoenix or Salt Lake City? Without knowing what sorts of things you like to do or see it's a bit hard to suggest though.

Just one place ? How boring ;)

Seriously a day trip to Frisco is very do-able- I picked a random Saturday in Feb and came up with several options out early back late for around £100 without looking too hard. Virgin America have some good flight prices .

For a first time visit and a short one at that I probably would say there's too much to do in Vegas to bother-especially as Febuary has shorter days , more risk of flight delays and SF can be quite cold then and it would make more sense pricewise to tack SF onto the begining or end of a trip so there's no time wasted backtracking but I am a big fan of adding extra places to trips anyway :)

That was just an example...as you know ,..the giant redwoods are close to Yosemite

To me a day trip to SF wouldnt be worth it.
I havent looked at flight times, but there is the travel to the airport and back both ends, check in, and security both ends. Would be a very long day, so with that taken in to account, I see we both agree on something...thats a first

SFO is notorious for flight delays. Just saying.

agree that for 6 days and a first visit I wouldn't plan too much away-time as there's so much to do closer to Vegas...maybe a few trips to places in the greater Vegas area would be an idea. Then again I suppose it's down to how much someone wants to see and how likely they are to get back to the area in the future.

I think most people could easily find plenty to occupy themselves for a week, if they've done enough research beforehand...few things gall me more than people coming back from Vegas saying 'there's nothing to do but gamble'.

I know that for some, Vegas just is not their thing and a shorter stop may be warranted...we have a few friends who have done a few days in Vegas and thought that was enough for them, but they mostly like the driving tours spending most of their time at national parks...and Vegas is probably the direct opposite of that kind of holiday...it is a very manufactured place and if you most appreciate natural environments, etc. it may not be a good fit...though there are plenty of places within an easy drive of Vegas that would be.

we are almost at the 3 month mark for our next trip...somehow we feel that when we can say 'less than 3 months' it will not seem so, so far away.

We're there 9 nights and we have 5 nights at Ceasars and hubby had an offer for 2-nights at Cosmo...so we've booked the next two and now waiting to see if I get a 2-night offer to bolt on the end...or if we'll end up at TI again...we both really like TI and agree it's a better fit for us than Cosmo, but the rooms at Cosmo are so nice it seems silly not to take them up on it. :)
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

This may explain all the resort fees and $30 buffets , http://www.myfoxdc.com/story/24418581/nevadas-biggest-casinos-lose-13b-in-2013#axzz2q61A4kFl

I always thought the casinos were a gold mine but perhaps not.

Do you know they are nearly 600 miles apart.

If only going for 6 days, IMO stick to Vegas and then next time add on some more days to take in other places :)

Yosemite is between Vegas and San F, that makes a great road trip
Yosemite isn't really doable in a day from LV.
It took us about 8 hours to drive from LV, Death Valley, furnace creek, lone pine, Yosemite, and just out Yosemite on the west side where we stayed a couple of nights before heading on to San Fran. I was a great drive and we had breaks on the way but would have taken 5 hours to get to Yosemite without stopping. The drive through Yosemite alone was 2 hours. But as you sat a great drive.

    That was really my point

Don't do SF in a day, a road trip starting at SF taking in Yosemite, Redwoods etc, for me makes more sense than rushing to and from SF in a day

Fly to SF a couple of nights there, a couple of nights at Yosemite lodge at base of falls, (best place I have ever stayed with a view of the falls from our room) another night maybe in Death Valley

Arrive in Vegas on 6th day

    Just an idea

Hiya, I was looking at going by plane for the day to San Fran, go early and go back late as mentioned in someone else post. I wont get enough time though.I travel to Las Vegas Wed till Monday and get back to the UK tues so 2 days will be travelling. The grand canyon trip is booked on the Fri with Papillion and Im keeping a couple of days free just in case the trip gets cancelled dependent on the weather.Ive read on some site reports that this can happen. I have some sights I want to see in Las Vegas and a show Friday night. I dont like driving on the other side of the road so I wont be driving anywhere.

Have plans but will go with the flow when I get there.

    Just excited getting to Vegas!

    I will be aloo

Our Grand Canyon flight was cancelled once due to snow and high winds. This time of year, even without the Arctic Winter, snow is pretty deep at the GC, and temps can be minus 20c or so......it was the coldest air I have ever breathed.
