I got $1000 for £595 at a place in London a week or two ago which works out at like $1.68 per £1...great rate.

Will be withdrawing on my Clarity card over there though. Actually that's a question - are there any fee-free ATMs around the airport/Strip? If not then where are the machines with the lowest fees?

There is a Bank of America cash machine in the M&M shop, 4th floor if I remember correctly.

Glad to hear I am not the only one collecting pieces of paper when going to Vegas. Our two nights at the Cosmo is now up and we're off to Palms Place. First time off the strip so a bit excited now! And of course, we can get a bit of laundry done too :) A good day for gambling yesterday, so hopefully Lady Luck stays with us.

It is warm, but thankfully not too hot. On our first day, tried to redeem the Mirage buffet for MyVegas, but seems to be an issue with my Mlife/MyVegas connection due to having way too many names. Either way, the reward was refunded and Mlife just comped it. I'd say that is a result considering we had not yet gambled a cent on this trip :D

Also caught All Shook Up, an Elvis tribute, really good if you like the King! A very small theater so makes for a nice hour and a bit to enjoy live music. Tonight it is Backstreet Boys!

Anyway, time to enjoy another day, catch you all later!

That one is $2 and a good alternative if you won't be near Casino Royale.

I am going to be in Vegas from 7th-14th June in a party of 8, we are going to celebrate my sister's 21st birthday. For one of the nights we would like to go out for a "nice" meal, somewhere where we can all have a good laugh, some nice drinks etc.

There is at least one vegetarian in the party so need some good veg options. Budgetwise looking at around $50 per head including food drink tax and tip.

Could some of you Vegas food connoisseurs make some recommendations?!

glad to hear it...I still haven't been to the Saks outlet though I always mean to...someone here a few years ago said at one point they had Mulberry bags, but not in a long while. I would make a special trip for that. :)

That was me :) It was a few years ago now and only saw them that one year :(

I see that Monarch are bringing in new aircrafts with seats that do not recline as they have found that it is the number one complaint on board between passengers, and the main cause of arguments. Now that's a surprise isn't it!!!!!

    Hi all

I know Car Rental has been spoken about on here in the past, and many of us are all keen to book via netflights or carhire3000 (now rentalcars.com) due to the fact that we know we are properly insured if we do this. For this reason, I've never really explored any other options because I'd have a fear of inadequate insurance.

We are generally tied to Dollar because they have a location at Treasure Island where we like to drop off. This year we are even more tied, because they are one of the companies that offer free one-way rental and we are arriving at Phoenix and departing from Vegas this year. Rental dates are 5-14th September if anyone is keen to have a look at my comparison.

So, this morning I've looked up Dollar.co.uk just to see. Here's what I found. It looks adequate to me, but I'm wary. It's also £20 cheaper than going through rentalcars.com. I've not yet checked netflights, but I think they've dropped the TI location which would put me off anyway. I can't be bothered going to the Airport to drop it off. Had to do this a few years ago - although we collected on arrival at McCarran that year, but we had to get a shuttle back to the strip. That said, it went ok, but our plans were around Mandalay Bay that evening so it worked ok for that reason.

Here's my quote with some details. Interested what you all think. I'm even curious about calling them to talk it through.

Not a huge budget when it includes drinks, tax and tip. I was going to suggest Maggiano's. They have veggie options. Might be worth trying to see if there are any groupon deals that might suit you all. Some of the buffet groupons have wine/beer included at dinner. Or you might find a restaurant that can accomodate - just watch out for the number you can use per table in case your group is too big for that.

Wynn in general has Vegetarian (and Vegan) options at all their restaurants, due to Steve Wynn being Vegan. I think their restaurants will be above that budget though, even without drinks. Drinks will be quite pricy! Wynn buffet is fab, and they do a champagne bump for $15 extra if that might suit. I think you'd get a late lunch or a brunch around $50pp including the bump. Last time we did brunch with bump it was about $95 for both of us, plus tip.

Thanks Pebbles. I always wondered though how Dollar would often be more expensive etc when booking directly. You'd think it would be cheaper to book direct. I know it's not always the case - with flights, hotels and other stuff!

Ok, so do I just call rentalcars and do the booking over the phone then, or do I have to book then put in a claim for a price match?

    Thanks for this!
