Noticed this earlier, I did 3 shares then noticed I had 2 shares left. Was a bit puzzled and wondered if 2 of them hadn't counted, then my husband said tonight he had 5 shares.
hmm, both myself and the missus have been on tonight and I'm still only getting 3 shares... not used SR for a couple of weeks - are you guys still getting 5?

Yes, we got 5 again today nvh.

I wonder if you 'earn' them. I can't believe you're not logging on every day...I can't bear to miss a day!! Earlier in the year when it was a bit slow I wasn't logging on for a few days in a row because I knew I'd catch up. I've been logging on daily and using them all for weeks now. I'm very excited about spending our rewards :) Thinking Caesar's buffet, and some drinks somewhere nice.

a warning about fees for returning a hire car late.

We knew we would be late returning the car after our flight was delayed on the way back and accepted that there would be a fee.

What we did not consider was that Dollar charge an hourly fee ($14 per hour in our case) plus the DAILY charge for any insurance waivers that were extended - those from our original booking...as we had an inclusive booking with rentalcars.com they extended all of that coverage and charged us the full daily rate for each.

So our 1:21 minute late return cost $92.45...of which $28 + tax was the actual late fee...the rest was all insurance waivers and the tax on them.

I tried to challenge it on the basis that my Express membership declines all coverage but they say that doesn't matter when you've booked on a voucher.

I can see in the T&Cs of the rental agreement that it does support this...paying the daily fee for LDW, SLI, etc for any day or part day...so I can't see that I have any option but to suck it up.

But it was a bit of a shock.

In the end, we probably would have kept the car for the extra 1:21 if we had known what the charges would be rather than just sit an extra 1:21 at the airport but it was painful to see that total and thought in case it helped anyone else to know about this in case they are thinking about a late return at some point.

That would work for some but not really of interest to us - not really shoppers and our cases would already be checked :)...we normally check in and drop the cases and head back to the south Strip for a few hours and then head to rental car return. It's just what we do. I wouldn't be comfortable relying on a taxi as too many times I've seen crazy queues...and so knowing me I'd have us leaving an hour before we needed to 'just in case' and we'd end up sitting for an extra hour at the airport.

As I said, if we had known about the charges we probably would have still done things as we did...it just came as a shock that the insurance waivers were charged at the full daily rate.

I miss Bills for taxis-they didn't have a rank so would just whistle one down for you so no queue to worry about-although the only time I've ever seen bad queues at most places is in the late evening.

I think once in our early days when we were staying at Excalibur we were there during a big convention (may have been CES - it was before I knew much about Vegas)...and the taxi queue one morning was the most insane thing you have ever seen. That scarred me.

I'm very paranoid about being late, I'm a ball of stress on the day of the return flight...so having control of our own destiny is just what I have to have. The departure day that Obama was flying out and they closed LVB south and any alternate access to the airport or past the airport from either direction so AF1 could depart just as we were making our way down to rental car return was not a good day for me. 5 minutes earlier and we would have missed the road closure but as it stood it was very stressful. :)

I think they are messing about with Social Rewards. The 5 shares they gave us has gone back down to 3.......perhaps they are just testing. Since "re-tweeting" "favouriting" (is that a word?) and "sharing" you tube videos started counting towards the 3 a day thing. I am backed up with things to post so the 5 a day would be very useful.

I concur, it does seem like they trialled the 5-share, before reverting back :( So many backed up shares! Just prioritising the higher point shares first.

But hey, can't complain, tis all free and me n my GF are upto $270 now between us!! :j
