  • It sounds dreadful. I would tell OH that you simply cannot stomach it. Ask her round to yours, tell her your dad needs care, say whatever if he needs to be diplomatic, but I wouldn't go.

    I've been Money Tipped!
Could you take some of your own food that you could eat as a "contribution" that way you would know the origin

Bluntly - I wouildn't even set foot over the doorstep. The muck you can see will be nothing compared to the muck you can't.
.................:)....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)
  • I wouldn't go and I think it's unfair you and the children are expected to.

My OH family used to do a Christmas buffet and they without fail used to bring out of date food each time, saying it's only 5 days past. I refused to eat a thing and just said I had a sensitive tummy. Now it's a joke between all the cousins as we sneak out for Maccy D's or something.

    Stick to your guns. X

Ultimately if you live in an ultra clean environment you never develop any immunity to bacteria and disease. When I was a child I ate anything I could get my hands on, worms, snails, mud, etc,. My parents commented on when I was at school I very rarely had any days off school apart from the usual childhood viruses. As an adult I have had barely a day ill with the usual conditions. It is the same with allergies. If you are not exposed as a child you become allergic later in life. Your body needs to get used to what is normal.
It's really easy to default to cynicism these days, since you are almost always certain to be right.
  • I tried telling him we weren't going there and he just went mad and insisted we were. I just hope we get snow like they forecasted that'll settle the argument lol

I also very rarely had any days off school, but we did not live in filth! There's a difference between being exposed to a healthy amount of bacteria, and being given food poisoning (as in the OP's case).

You don't have to go OTT with the antibacterial wipes and bleach, - soap and water is usually sufficient unless the place is really dirty - but you do need to keep the home environment clean and safe.

You really need to stand up for yourself and your children. :( Is he going to physically drag you kicking and screaming? Just do not go!

Does he normally bully you like this?

She should have asked BEFORE she bought the food anyway. I wouldn't go either, your hubby is out of order 'telling' you anything.....

    Happy moneysaving all.
