p.s good luck with the scarf (tried to teach my niece to knit the other day and after 6 rows she had 8 extra stitches!)

    how does that even happen?

I'm sure I started with 15 or 20, and I now have 29.... hahaha

it's my first attempt, and I have a uni assignment, so this is just an outlet for a few minutes before I go to bed at night for the next few weeks.... I unpicked loads of first attempts that were totally terrible, but it got to the point where i was feeling i was wasting my time, so i figured i would just crack on with it... :)

I've made a start on the hot air balloon. In my mind I know what I want it to look like but so far it looks a bit different... :/ I'm doing it without a pattern, which probably explains why it's a bit flat at the top instead of rounded. Also, my last needle snapped last night, so I can't actually finish it without popping up to town. No sure if I can be bothered to go today. Feeling a bit bleurgh. The weather is just awful.

    Sorry for the moan. :(

Ooh, i just bought 100 needles on fleabay for £4.95 - might be worth a look. they arrived in a few days too, it would save you going out, and they were super cheap...

Nimbo - welcome to the thread. Of course you can ask advice, I'm sure here will be someone who kjows the answer or knows where to find the answer. I've accepted your flickr request so you can know show us your scarf.

Maria - I've also accepted your flickr request. As far as knitting goes I can knit and do some quite elebkrate stitches but on occasions I've been known to make and lose stitches really quickly. I blame the wool :)

I am adding some projects to my list -
Re no 4 - I have new flooring down and want to protect it from the office swivel chair wheels. I think you can buy chair mats but I am too thrifty for that. I have a duvet that I can cut up for wadding and a huge stash of fabric. I recovered my first chairs seats last week so onwards.

    1. Make Birthday/Anniversary/Sympathy/Easter cards for this year.
    2. Make a fabric door stop for my hall. I have made them as presents before but I don't have one!
    3. Make an altered A for Granddaughter's Birthday present.
    4. Sew 2 chair mats for my craft room swivel chairs.
    5. Shabby chic - 4 mirrors.
    6. Make oil cloth covering for craft room table.
    7. Recover bed head board.
    8. Make a Christmas Wreath.
    9. Recover 2 swivel chairs.
    10. Crochet some hearts - add colour to my craft room.
    11. Sew 2 dog beds with removable covers - use some more of the duvet as wadding.
    12. TBC.
    13.
    14.

I have decided to go back to basics which will hopefully help me get started... Just opened a box of what I thought was craft stuff, and found the missing Christmas prezzie...

0 - Tidy the craft room - if i'm not back by the end of next week send a search party!!!!

1- a scarf for my sister - this is filled with dropped stitches (and ones picked up from nowhere!!), but I have never knitted before, and I promised her the first one... currently UFO, and about half finished

2- a scarf kit that my sil bought for me for Christmas... not started, but I will do as soon as I have finished item 1.

3- A valentines card for my OH... and an anniversary one, which is in fact first - never made a card before so should be fun

4- an advent calender, I plan to make and decorate pockets in leather as i have masses cluttering up the spare room. for this any ideas or inspiration welcome, as I only have 6 ideas so far, and need 24...

5- mini Christmas crossstich - this will decorate one of the advent pockets, but I will need some drive to get this done, as it's not my favourite craft... it is however over half done and tiny, so i hold out hopes that it will get done... hahaha

6- make a skirt - I have the pattern, the fabric, and even a new sewing machine... this WILL get done soon. I have never followed a pattern to make an item of clothing, so this is deliberately an easy pattern from 'sewaholic' which will hopefully go well...

7- make a dress - as above really

    8-
    9-
    10-
    11-
    12-
    13-
    14-

Wow - just seen all the pictures, I will have to get finished on my Christmas crossstich...

  • Been busy tonight finished off the cross stitch Mother's Day card for my mother in law and made the kit I bought for my mum for Mother's Day. Going to log in on my laptop tomorrow to update my list properly (found a UFO while cleaning out my craft room last weekend) and hopefully load up some pictures to the thread.

    Hello can I try and join in again please? I tried last year but didn't even get started as life kept interrupting play. I did make some things but they were always last minute and out the door as gifts. This year I'd really like to try and get more organized plus I do need to start trying to do some crafting for myself, both for my sanity and to try and justify my stash mountain I've created. Going to start by this week trying to clear a dedicated space for crafting. Here is my list so far;

    1) Greetings cards for this year as needed. (Birthday cards Female/Male, Fathers Day card, Occasion Cards)
    2) Seasonal Cards (Spring, Harvest Home, Halloween/Winter Nights, Yule cards)
    3) Make a 'Book of Days' Journal
    4) Work on pictures to make a calendar for 2015
    5) Make some seasonal home decorations (Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter)
    6) Make a wire stags head.
    7) Re do dolls house interior.
    8) Do a set of jewellery with a fantasy theme.
    9) Make a mini book.
    10) Something inspired by new book I had at Yule - Celtic, Viking and Anglo Saxon Embroidery.
    11) Make some Treat bags for Halloween.
    12) Create one gift a month. (0/12)
    13)
    14)
