      I've had chance to think about my list and here it is. Sorry it's not very exciting.

      1. Finish hardanger SAL from Mable Figworthy – I started this last year but couldn’t master the cut out stitches so gave up. I have decided to give this another go but to improvise and do a “filler stitch” instead of the cut out.
      2. Try to finish A - Z Nativity cross. Have only put try to finish as I started this and wasn’t happy with how it was stitching up and as it’s on 18 count I am struggling with it. Will see how it goes.
      3. Finish quilt for bed - large project and first quilt I've done. Majority of squares have been completed but need to sew the squares together and actually make into quilt.
      4. Finish Rock, Paper, Scissors, Spoke, Lizard cross stitch. I’m about half way through this one and this is the one I’d like to get finished first.
      5. Stitch Pairs or Spoils Tree cross stitch. Haven’t decided which one yet, will amend list once I’ve decided which to do.
      6. Knit waistcoat with wool I’ve had for almost 12 months – finished knitting but need to sew it up.
      7. Sew up the two jumpers (not including the waistcoat above) that I have had knitted for 12 months.
      8. Knit 3 pairs of adult bootees (slipper sock sort of thing), to be used for Christmas presents.
      9. Finish pair of knitted socks. I have one finished at the moment.

      14. Learn to crochet

      I think it’s a shame we don’t all live closer as judging by the number of us that want to learn to crochet we could do with a self help group. I’ve put learn to crochet last on my list not because I want to leave this to last but because I don’t hold much hope to actually mastering it. I’ve tried on several occasions and had no joy, I’ve tried books, DVD’s and watching youtube but no joy. Think I need to find a class and see if that works.

      I will amend my list as and when.

      You got further than me with the Mabel Figworthy SAL - all I have done is downloaded the pattern and selected a piece of fabric and a few threads from my stash. And it's not even on my 2014 list at the moment:)

      done a bit more of my Oz stocking, have completed lion and scarecrow since i posted a photo in last years thread.

      started a fringed scarf last night -basically cast on enough stitches to make it as long as you want leave about 8inches of wool at each end and every row uses a different colour wool so as you work you are knitting a row of colour and leaving a fringe end at each end of the row carry on untill scarf is as wide as you want it to be. I've chosen about 8 balls of wool from my stash all in different shades of pink/purple.

      love everyones list some great ideas.
      taking inspiration from someones idea, i have a bridesmaids dress i wore as a child at my aunties wedding. she sadly died a few years ago. I'd like to think of a way of converting the dress into cushion covers so i have a nice memory of my aunt that can be displayed and hopefully enough fabric to make my mum and my sister one each as well.

      Love your Oz stocking - it will be stunning.

      Very interesting idea for a scarf. As I rarely knit I don't have (and don't have room for) a stash of knitting wool otherwise I would be tempted to try it

      Lovely idea to make cushion covers from the bridesmaid dress. Have you thought about stitching a small piece (perhaps her initials or a favourite flower of your aunt's) and then using the dress fabric to make a border - you would need less fabric that way

      Hi folks, I love the look of this thread and would like to join if I may.

      My 14 projects will probably take me most of the year as I have very little time for crafting but would feel I had achieved something if I could give it a go.

      My initial ideas are:
      1. Make new cushion covers for cushions in bedroom
      2. Make new cushion covers for cushions in kitchen
      3. Make a scarf - either crochet or knitted. My knitting and crochet skills are quite basic so this will allow me to practice them.
      4. Make marmalade for Chistmas gifts.
      5. Make a selection of Jams for Christmas gifts.
      6. Make blackcurrant and ginger wine - another Christmas gift
      7. Experiment with making my own Tomato sauce.
      8. Make a curtain for the kitchen.


      I am not sure about the final few projects yet but will have a think.

      Have added you to the list. Welcome The Flickr group idea is a good one and I will check it out. 14 is just because it's 2014 - completing any projects is a success and of course if you are using up stash in doing so it's also very :money:

      thanks for that idea, i was thinking of maybe doing the back a contrasting or toning colour but hadn't thought of a panel. I'll quite possibly go with something along the lines of that idea.
      its a tangerine silky fabric with a picot cotton overlay on the bodice and sleeves and a decorative band made from the silky fabric so ive got a bit to work with, i was about 7 when i was their bridesmaid so it should be a longish length of fabric once i start unpicking it. i stitched panel would work well i think.

      isnt it lovely having all those new people coming in to join us.

      Please may I join - have not got a clue what I am going to make yet but am busy trying to destash (I have so much which really must be used). As it is going to be 2014 lets go for 14 things like you suggest. I think as I don't really have many things I have made around my own house I will make 14 things for my own home.


      I'll update later once I have thought about 14 things I could make :)

      Well I've managed to finish one item so far so that's 1 /14 completed.


      I've also started project life scrapbook (although as this is a weekly record this will not be finished until the end of the year) and I've also got all my 6 x 4 photos printed out ready for the Disney project life scrapbook so will be starting this very soon :)


      Still trying to think of other projects to complete my 14 things but as I am signed up for the stash busting challenge on here I am sure that I will keep discovering things that can be used to make things for around my home which will inspire me :)
