mrs-m, I knit faster when I think I'm short of wool too! Maybe we think if we hurry we can get to the shop and hardly miss a knitting moment!

I knit faster towards the end.. it is so I don't run out of wool.

    Tenth Anniversary Combo Breaker
Just popping in to say hello. Some really fab crafting everyone :)

I have started knitting a scarf (with needles instead of my arms for a change:p ) I am spending about 10 minutes+ each night but i'm quite slow. Would love to try knitting a baby hat at somepoint as we have a few friends expecting. Or maybe a blanket.

Any easy pattern recommendations for either?

easiest baby blanket in the world -uses 2 100grm balls of yarn or how ever big you want your blanket.

    cast on 2 stitches
knit one, knit into front and back of next stitch (to make an extra stitch.)
on every subsequent row you knit first stitch, increase into the 2nd stitch and then knit to the end.
once you have used up almost all of your first ball of wool you should have a triangle shaped piece of knitting. (if using more than two balls of wool or yarn you use half of total amount while increasing and then other half while decreasing)
    then you start decreasing by
knit one, knit two tog, knit to end of row.
continue doing this till you have two stitches left knit them together to cast off. you will then have a nice square blanket.

also got this little yellow duck sewn up so it went to the hospital with me today and was released in one of the corridors near childrens outpatients - hopefully cheered the finder up.
