Samsung S3 Mini Cracked Screen - Unfit for Purpose
Comments

you pay a fortune for a 'new style phone' why on earth would you not put it in a protective case. I have just bought the Huawei y300 and it will not leave the house without the protective case
it was the first thing i ordered once i purchased the phone. This phone is a replacement for my LG which may i add is not broken just out of date and looks as good as the day it came out of the box 2 years ago because of its protective case.

For what its worth I did not use a protective case for my phone. After 3.5 years of being dropped (sometimes on concrete) and kept in my pocket its finally suffered its first crack in the case. The screen is completely scratch free.
After reading this thread I'm beginning to realise I've been quite lucky.0 -

Okay lets get things straight. Are you saying that a phone is 'unfit for purpose' unless it is housed in a protective case?
Here's the opinion of which on the S3 Galaxy and this had Gorilla Glass unlike the mini which doesn't.

But is it normal to tap dance on a roof? It is quite normal to have a mobile phone in your pocket or bag.
You're just being silly now. What I mean is that if you don't treat it with care, its obvious its going to end up damaged.
It is quite normal to have a phone in your pocket or bag but at the same time, if I put it in there without a cover....I'm not going to be surprised if it does end up damaged.
Especially if in a bag.You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -
no i am not saying the phone is not fit for purpose unless its in a case i am saying why would you spend over £100 on a phone and not put it in a protective case. as a previous poster said you would not put you glasses in a handbag without a case so why would you put a phone in.
would you put a camera in a handbag with no lense cap on?
i am saying its COMMON SENSE to put an expensive item in a protective case... I am not saying you dont have a case by which there may be a manufatruing issue am merely stating a point about protective cases!!!0 -
Maybe we need to wrap up our roof tiles in bubble wrap for extra protection.
Um, you realise that the roof tiles are a protective surface put on the top of your house to protect what's in it from the wind & rain?
Some houses have thatch or corrugated iron roofing. Some roofing provides better protection than others.
Tents provide less protection than houses, but more than living out in a field.1. Have you tried to Google the answer?
2. If you were in the other person's shoes, how would you react?
3. Do you want a quick answer or better understanding?0 -
I can carry water in a plastic food bag or a steel jerry can, both are fit for purpose at significantly different prices but one will need more careful handling than the other. I want to drive across a field, do I use my old corsa or my landrover, both are fit for purpose but one of them will not do the job that I want it to as opposed to the job it was designed for.0

I guess it all depends on different peoples interpretation of 'fit for purpose'. Should Christmas lights last 3 weeks ie 1 year of use or 9 weeks ie 3 years.
It is something that we are unlikely to agree on.
My personal view is that any phone should be durable enough to withstand daily use without a protective cover or it should come with one.Ask me no questions, and I'll tell you no lies0
