  • I also listed everything on the bay of e that i sorted out last week - tomorrow i will try and find more things to sell.

I also haven't made my mortgage overpayment as they had closed by the time i got home from work so i will do that tomorrow. Its going to leave things tight but its important i keep up with the payments to put us in a better place for the future. I did broach the subject of my Mr helping to overpay but it does not interest him at all.

i think that was it for today - other than finding 5p :rotfl:

DDFW, you are doing so well - I love finding money but whenever I do it's usually 1p. Though I did find a whole pound the other day, on a pub floor, and I'd only nipped in to use the loo :D.

I am very impressed by your determination to sell something to make up for the top you bought. It must look lovely on you - I note from your sig that you are very slimline for the summer :T.

It's a shame that Mr DDFW isn't interested - I know that feeling well - but you are doing magnificently on your own.

Well done on finding 5p! :money: and an impromptu weekend away - how fab! :j :j

As for refilling the soap dispensers with cheap soap :rotfl: We function pretty much entirely on home made soap in this house now, don't you know ;):D Currently 'testing' my latest batch of liquid stuff - it ain't perfect but it washes so it'll do til it runs out (which might not be til about 2017 - I accidentally made rather a lot  :rotfl: ) :D

Weekend was indeed lovely Cheery - i always feel so uplifted when we visit places and chat to lovely people :D oh yes i remember your soap exploits - i keep thinking i should look into this as well as making the stuff for washing clothes - but i will need to make storage first - although it sounds like you made rather a lot :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: Hows the running going Cheery? I'm hoping to get back into but have been poorly most of this year and it was so hard last time i tried :( - i need to get back into it though - we could be virtual running buddies - i've set myself quite a challenge for next year ;)

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: - sorry p&f i couldn't help it :D the top is lovely - although that pesky sig is out of date somewhat. I lost a load of weight, felt great - not just the weight loss but eating well, exercising, drinking water - then got so ill and *finally* hoping to be getting better now so i'll have to start the whole thing again - although not tonight i've got cake :D

Thank you for the support though - i was really downhearted about it all a bit earlier - will update in my next post - but all the support on here really helps :) yes, part of selling something is to cover the cost of the top and also to ensure more things are leaving the house than coming into it - for me anyway but admit my Mr buys very little for himself too and when he does a clear out alot seems to go :)

Well done for your finds p&f - i found £1 & 1p today :T i will pop over to your diary and see how you are getting on - hopefully have time tonight :)

Hi muppets - lovely to see you again :D - part of posting again was the need for the discipline with the lists and targets and also to share with people who understand - its a bit lonely quietly plodding on with no-one to talk to about overpayments and the best options available etc. - i hope all is good with you? x

    hello all

Well today has been a bit mixed in terms of budgetry etc.

I already knew i was going to be posting about my overpayment which i *did* get round to doing today :) But then some other spends crept in as well :naughty:

i really, really wanted some cake today so decided *not* to pop into the little shop on my way home for my free brekkie thing as i knew money would be enchanted out of my purse for a delicious looking cake. proudly headed home and then remembered i needed to return an item for a refund and pick up a refund from a shop following another complaint. So headed off after the traffic had reduced and parked near 1 shop and walked to the other instead of driving to that one too.

You can see its all going to go wrong can't you ? :o Well, i went in to return said item and there on the rail was a lovely snuggly warm cardi for £65 - but it was on the sale rail and was reduced to £15 i discovered at the till - i am both :T and :undecided about it though - yes i love it, yes i'll wear it loads - do i need it ? and its defining the *need* that i'm struggling with. I have 2 cardigans which i alternate between - 1 was lovely and cheap and when i washed it it definitely lost some of its shape etc. i've worn this a year now and it is actually quite misshapen :o but it still functions - more or less - bottom of my arms get a bit chilly :rotfl: The other cardigan i've had 5 years and it has passed its best. But again still functional as a cardigan. *But* these are work cardigans and therein is the bit with the *need* and the *need* to look a bit smarter for work. Hmmm.... still not sure what to do.

As i was leaving the shop i spotted a skirt i had been wanting for ages - definitely not a need it was a want and £12 seemed a very good price to pay - will mull this over somewhat

Then went to funds from complaint and all was good with that and then just as i was heading back to the car the phone went and could i pick up a few bits from the shop please :o So i spent:

    £1.40 treat for my Mr
£2.40 on bread and cake which had been reduced - full price was £16.15

    Spends today then have been:
£3.80 supermarket - except fotr £1.40 could have been avoided

£27 - new cardigan and skirt - entirely avoidable i think?

    £1110 mortgage overpayment

    Money saving things have been

    packed lunch to work
walked to station instead of driving
walked to shop instead of driving car (to 2nd shop)
    found £1 & 1p
picked up a free side dish :)
picked up refund from complaint - counting this my Mr wasn't interested in it and it was him that needed the refund
tea was the last part of 1 reduced item and reduced item to go with it - all already in
made packed lunch ready for tomorrow :D

    Argh just lost my post

I was saying that i was very glum earlier as when i made my payment to the mortgage and they told me the remaining term i was very :(:(:( - its such a huge, huge task - and i certainly don't want to be paying it for that long. thats why its nice sharing on here with people who understand *i hope* although it should be motivation enough to keep at it - and should certainly be motivation enough to return those clothes :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: but it is hard finding the balance i think - i know clothes aren't necessarily a fun thing / a day out / experience - but they do add to the way i feel - if i'm smartly presented in work i do feel more confident and assured and the same if i go out - if i'm wearing something i like and am comfortable in then i am more relaxed and confident. kinda getting that on paper hits the nail on the head though doesn't it - i am not very confident and if my self-esteem is connected to how i present myself its hard to identify if a purchase such as the new work cardi is essential as mine are just too tatty now or if its a confidence boost thing hmm answers on a postcard :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

The skirt is easier - pure want - it rocks! :rotfl:

DDFW, that mortgage overpayment is AMAZING :T. What is the term left on your mortgage, as a matter of interest. And if it's not too nosey a question, how did you rustle up that overpayment?

On the self-esteem thing, it is quite natural that wearing the right clothes boosts your confidence. It works the other way around as well, if you feel your clothes are not suitable you feel self-conscious and it is much harder to enjoy yourself. I once went to a party where I was really overdressed compared to everyone else and I felt such an idiot. I wasn't even that dressed up, it's just that everyone else was in jeans and t-shirts and wellies :rotfl:.

So my conclusion - the cardie sounds like a 'need' to me in that it is essential for work AND boosts your confidence. And it was 77% off and everyone knows 7 is a lucky number. Wear it with joy :).

I think you've made your mind up already about the skirt :D.

    Hi All

p&f - i found your thread so will be popping in soon :D Aw thanks but i'd feel better if the payment actually made much of a difference :( - i need to stop getting down on this and face up to the facts that i just need to keep paying what i can, every bit paid is a reduction in the balance however small.

Got myself all down on things again as i was looking at comparison sites and thought ooh look at what i could save maybe i should just ring a broker now - then thought i'll just fill in these details on the calculator and i can't even borrow half of what i owe :(

Money for overpayment was a combination of the missed allocations for june along with julys and some compensation.
