An excellent but exhausting sort of day so far! Taking a break and a indulging cup of tea to recover.

:www: MFW Wonderment: Had an excellent piece of news about a work opportunity this morning. It would completely change how I do things, allow me to concentrate on the work that I really want to do and also make a marked financial difference, so exciting!

Sorting out work/career stuff can be so utterly emotional and draining though, I had a few more pieces of work lined up for today but think I'll give myself the rest of the afternoon off to read my book (Rip It Up - it's definitely given me some food for thought and good tips on how to retain equilibrium in stressful situations) and get on with those last bits this evening.

In other financial news, I got a 50p survey on 1Poll! I thought it was going to keep screening me out as the page was loading so slowly but I got there in the end, hooray!

Almost got the whole list done yesterday :T except the yoga... which I really need to start doing again as it should help nerve/hip twinges so I'll sandwich that in before dinner methinks.

In other news, apparently the letters for Wimbledon tickets have gone out, mine hasn't arrived yet - I fully expect the postman to turn up with notification that I have Men's Final tickets tomorrow. (Please everyone cross your fingers for me! :rotfl:)

ETA: No final flurry on eBay, boo, but did make £13 in the end. Also had a message from someone who missed an auction finish but wants to buy it anyway (£10 if that comes off, yay!)

Continued crazy day, we were told a family member was having to go into hospital and were somewhat misinformed so ended up thinking it was a serious Must Go In Next Few Days situation only for it to transpire that it's not for several weeks. Thank heavens, but it did give us a frantic couple of hours.

Have spent most of the evening planning how I'll divvy up all this extra income if this work thing comes together... almost ended up creating a spreadsheet for it. :rotfl:

Heard some bad news from Mr Merle's friend who informs us that the word on the street is that 90% of the "public ballot" tickets for Wimby are going to LTA members. Apparently they changed the rules this year and it was buried deep in the fine print (I may be wrong/in midst of Chinese whispers scenario). Am not impressed if I've wasted two stamps on this and they're up to this sort of nonsense! At least I know for next time but still, grr!

Fridge & freezer are looking reasonably empty as we snack, lunch, and dinner from their lingering contents, need to head to Aldee sharpish to do a bit of a fresh stuff restock.

More MFW Wonderment! Mr M bought two scratch cards, sadly didn't win but in a sense I did as I got to keep the 2p and 1p we used to scratch them. And then I found another 1p on the sofa... so 4p to the kittybank!

:coffee: Simple Pleasures: snuggling up with my fleecy blanket on the sofa and delving into a book. Absolute bliss.

:heartsmil Burrow Building: plotting a trip to the cinema tomorrow to see Captain America and putting plans in action to see friends at the weekend.

Interesting re: ballot news - a lot of people I know who do the public ballot didn't get anything through this time.
I gambled on getting accreditation, and won - but it might be worth you considering joining the LTA because pretty much any time I missed out on the public ballot, I usually got a pair of tickets through the LTA.

Also - don't forget to register for the newsletter as it has the links for ticket master for returns and the CC tix up in the gods - one year I managed 11 days just on those tix.

Hurdler! :kisses3: :kisses3: :kisses3: Thank you so much for your top tips, I shall definitely be following those up! :A

I've never tried to get tickets before (was always too far from Londinium/no money etc), so I'm new to the whole shebang. Am determined to become a seasoned Wimby ticket-finding pro before this decade is out though. ;)

PS. have an awesome time when you go!

Not much to report today, just trundling along doing the usual bits & bobs. We're going to a wedding at the weekend & thankfully I remembered to unearth and wash the dress I'm planning to wear (cut it a bit fine though, oops!).

Woke up thinking about potential extra income and pensions (as you do), I have no pension whatsoever so need to think how to use any extra income to start building that up. Spent a bit of time reading scary "if you're 30, you need to put over £600 a month away to have anything!" articles, which is not going to happen any time soon. May have also done some looking on RightMove as well (planning to seriously look at BTL possibilities in future). Any excuse. ;)

Had a nice chat with a neighbour, though I'll say this - if a doctor ever tells you that that's it and there's nothing more they can do for you then for the love of God it is well worth getting a second opinion!

:www: MFW Wonderment: Another 50p 1Poll survey! Got my Boots voucher for free ladythings. :o but :T. :rotfl:

:coffee: Simple Pleasures: Unexpectedly bumping into a friend I hadn't seen for ages and having a cheerful chat :D

:heartsmil Burrow Building: Got another use out of the cinema cards (Captain America), it's so nice having nights out again. :)

  • I really want to do the btl thing too to income generate but my thought is to create a formal partnership with some like minded peeps and hopefully spread the risk.

Good thinking, INOD, I was actually pondering the same kind of thing, but only thinking about Mr Merle (he definitely wants to do this at some point) and my parents.... but I never thought of extending it to finding some others, which now I think of it, I could probably do. You've got the brain cogs whirring again, thank you! :D

    In other news....

:j  :j I GOT KATE BUSH TICKETS!!! ON MY BIRTHDAY!! IN AMAZING SEATS!! :j  :j

    Thank you, universe! :D:D:D

I was SHAKING when it finally let me through to buying the tickets, kept forgetting to tick boxes (ended up ticking ones all over the place "yes I want useless insurance, yes I want on your mailing list, yes I want to sell my soul"), might have actually burst into tears for about five minutes after I got them. Keep looking at the confirmation email to check it's real.

This has been a definitely spendy day. £300... would have paid more, tbh! :p Happy news is that it's on my 0% card, and I'm going to inform everyone to make birthday gifts monetary in nature ;)

    :j :j YAY! :j :j

A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort
