Crazy JSA Sanction

so if you can find work .... and work that you 'wamy' ....
why did you bother signing on at all?
or did you just fancy a paid holiday?0 -
What do people do when they are sanctioned for such long periods? How do they survive with no income? Does housing benefit stop too?0
-
Don't worry about the news, I can find work in 13 or 26 weeks and it will be work I want to do , not what I've been forced to do.
I'll continue to sign on my signing day and attend no other appointments, they can sanction away to their hearts content.
Oh dear, do everything by the book do you? If the sanction process wasn't so impregnable and you had an opportunity to explain and provide evidence "before" they imposed a sanction on people, it wouldn't be so bad. They don't, they sanction you and you have to appeal, which takes months, basically your guilty and sentenced until you can prove you are innocent, what a great system.
Don't try and justify the way these people work to me, like I said robots and sheep, puppets of the state.
Ironic that now the last place to look for help when finding a job is the Job Centre.
It's a relief to be out of it.
.
1st of all no need to be so rude, 2nd of all we are not all sheep.
If you're so great at finding work why are you unemployed?
You've been referred for not doing what was asked of you. It's why you're now looking at your second sanction and that is not your advisors fault it's your own.

people that are sanctioned can apply for hardship payments ( about £20 a week less than JSA)
housng benefit is calculated on household income and not based on receipt of certain benefits0 -
Some people are just unemployable...usually though it's because they've a serious, chronic, debilitating medical condition, some perhaps have slow motor skills or a low IQ but generally speaking, it's through no fault of their own.
..but then you have some people that have an attitude, they're contentious and uncooperative ...Now that is their own fault.

I can empathise with the OP with regard to the irrationality of certain sanctions.
I'm an ESA claimant and because of the length of my award (two years) I'm regarded a a voluntary participant on the Work Programme, I had the option to opt in or out, I chose not to participate, this was back in Feb 2013.
However the provider decided that they would keep sending me 'mandatory' appointment letters regardless. Every time I received a letter I would go to the providers office and ask why they were still bothering me, and every time they promised to get head office to take me off the system.
When I received the umpteenth letter in November 2013, I got totally fed up with their behaviour so I contacted the ESA advisor at JCP, she told me that the provider had been told in no uncertain terms to leave me alone, and I could safely ignore the letter.
Bad advice as it transpired, because the provider raised a sanction doubt due to non compliance.
Despite me providing 'good reason' and supporting evidence the decision makers decided to impose a sanction anyway, the sanction is open ended and the rules state it won't get lifted until I re-engage with the programme.
Re-engaging is a tad difficult, as I'm not on the programme and never have been. And as the provider is barred from contacting me again they cannot issue the paperwork to re-engage, which I would ignore anyway as I'm not on the programme, If I did comply just to get the sanction lifted I would lose the voluntary status, can you see where this is going?
JCP are now arguing amongst themselves to get an unfair and illegal sanction overturned that they imposed in the first place, and it's going nowhere fast.
I've got my MP involved, because I'm just hitting a brick wall. In the interim my only option is to ask for a mandatory reconsideration, and then appeal if that goes against me.0 -
The adviser refers the doubt not gives jobseekers sanctions.
When the adviser sends the deatils to the DM she will have to include the date the vacancy was issued to you and the date it closed. The DM will decide if you had reasonable time to apply for the vacancy, so..
What date did she save it into your UJ account and what date did you apply for it?
As for having access to your account it really makes no difference because if she couldn't save to your basket the adviser would have printed the copy, noted the system with the reference number and then followed it up with you, this would result in the same outcome.
If the vacancy closed the same day it was issued then you may have grounds to appleal as it would be impossible for you to apply so how long did you leave it before applying is the question?
Oh and staff are checked to ensure they follow up matched vacancies with employers and jobseekers, this forms part of the quality checking framework and staff face disaplinary action for not checking and following processes regarding matched vacancies.0 -
And its stories like this which stops me from ever, ever going anywhere near a jobcentre or claiming JSA, regardless of how long I have paid into the system or how desperate my situation might be. My job hunting is my responsibility and what I want to apply for should be my choice and mine alone - or at least for the first 6 months where you have arguably PAID IN ADVANCE for the benefit (for some 20 years in my case)
Hope your appeal is successful OP. Seems incredibly harsh to me.0 -

Just wondering....do you not go near a hospital because of stories about bugs or long waits?
Do you not cross the street because of people being run over? Not buy food because of stories of contamination?
Might it not be more reasonable to adopt the attitude that negative experiences of all these things are a small minority and you don't hear about all the times people had good experiences in hospital, of crossing the road, buying groceries, claiming benefits etc?0 -

Your missing the point in your eagerness to defend this draconian system and the people who carry out the orders.
I didn't apply for the job, when I clicked the right hand link it took me to the "expired" message.
When my dictator clicked the left hand link (I think it was 2 days later) the job was still listed.
When I returned home that day and clicked the right hand link the same day the job had expired.
It's pretty obvious where you and your cohorts in this forum stand on this issue, so rather than face questioning in the style of amateur gutter press journalism, I will continue with the slightly more reassuring legal advice I'm receiving elsewhere.
You not worthy of answers.
Thanks melysion, that's EXACTLY how I feel, this new system is systematically destroying the welfare structure and what it's meant to be.And its stories like this which stops me from ever, ever going anywhere near a jobcentre or claiming JSA, regardless of how long I have paid into the system or how desperate my situation might be. Lives are being destroyed, literally, there are people committing suicide over this, those in real need of welfare are being left high and dry.
I'll be fine, I only ever sign on as a last resort, 4 years ago it was easy to find casual labour to avoid the humiliation of the signing on process, now it's not so easy, there are literally hundreds of people applying for vacancies that 4 years ago agencies were ringing me up to fill.
Thanks for your understanding words.
edit:
Actually you've hit the nail on the head, what I resent the most is having to explain myself to a doddering jobsworth busy body, who is hell bent on tripping me up on minor technicalities to save the government a few quid.
I naively made the mistake of thinking she was there to listen and help, when it couldn't be further from the truth.
She delivers her well rehearsed guilt and shame inducing one liners like she is revelling in the process, maybe I've just been unlucky and have the mother of all advisors to contend with
I think it's time to treat her with the contempt she deserves, what's the worst she can do...sanction me?...lol :rotfl:0
