I have a divan bed with four drawers underneath. One of the drawers is where I keep wrapping paper etc. Needed the cellophane, went to get it out of the drawer but could find it so assumed it had fallen 'down the back' into the bed base. So I pulled the drawer out...

About 2 hours later I now have four tidied drawers and have vacuumed the drawers out and the 'inside' of the bed base; and found various other bits of lost stuff. There has been much flingage.

Wasn't a today job and more like a Toots jobs but once I had seen the dust inside the base:o:o:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek: well - it had to be done...

Cat litter tray has been washed though!

    Well done Valli

Still trying to work out the best deal for getting my turkey but most of the other stuff is organised, one more food shop needed for salad, veg and the bits I've forgotten!

Going to check the credit card statements next.

  • Hi - need some advice please!

This is probably a very silly question, but I've been lucky enough to receive two Christmas boxes, each of which contains fresh veggies amongst other goodies! Now, usually I buy either frozen veg or just enough fresh to last a week, (both of which I've got already) but having been given these means that I've got more fresh than usual and seeing that I'm out to lunch on Wednesday, I'm wondering whether to:

    a) freeze them (and if so, would appreciate some advice about freezing carrots, potatoes, fine beans and sprouts, in particular, do I have to blanch them first or can I just put them straight in the freezer? - told you it was a silly question!)

    b) think of something different for tonight's tea/tomorrow's lunch which can incorporate them or,

    c) hope they keep until after Christmas!

Thanks in advance for any advice .....

    Rebecca

they will all keep.. just keep them in a cool dry place and they will last ages. I keep carrots, sprouts and beans in the fridge and the potatoes in a cloth or paper bag.. not plastic or they sweat and get squishy.

you could make a stew/soup to use some up but I'd just save them and use up the ones which are looking oldest first.

DD2 gone to collect Tesco parcel
    shopping away
My mother isn't responding to messages so isn't getting her box of stuff and I'm too busy trapped under a baby feeling poorly to go to B&Q so hopefully we'll get that done tomorrow.

    DD2 back with parcel.
Pixie asleep but doing a lot of wriggling.. she is all snotty.
    Dot prodded awake
Girls trashing the front room *cry*

I'll go chuck food at the oven and cattleprod people to tidy.. I shall find they key to the treat cupboard and get that little lot locked away.

I am going to pop a few bits on ebay in the new year, see if I can empty some chunks of house. sewing machine and changing table can go first.. I'm unsure about the rocking horse.. it is going to cost £270ish to make nice again and I just can't justify the money when it irritates me being big and bulky and in the way.

I am going on a broken sofa fling after Christmas too.. because I can!

  • Update - after a good start decided to declutter the sky box and have watched 5 episodes of Last Tango in Halifax back to back!!!! Lovely. Can't wait for the final episode. Popped to DS and DBIL for cup of tea and to give cards and gifts ready for Xmas Day as won't be seeing them until later in the week.

Just getting an early tea and then it is more TV - so will have to get moving tomorrow - no backsliding allowed!!!

I like Last Tango in Halifax too Just the two of us - good isn't it! I've got a few episodes to catch up with so thanks for reminding me :)

Pigpen sorry Pixie is all snotty but yay to broken sofa fling!

Dusty we've got 1 more shop to do too for fresh stuff and will get a turkey crown from somewhere. No way could I afford £70 which I heard one of my friends was being charged

Well done on the bed drawer sorting Valli and the multiple findings! Amazing what gets stashed there isn't it.

Done roast pork for tea tonight; got DH to make gravy as he's much better at it than I am! Went to GP yesterday and she's put me on new meds; been feeling a bit weird but not too bad - still on a low dose so will see how I am on Monday when I go to what should be my normal dose. AF started this morning too - great! Never mind, feeling quite chilled. Had a lovely time with DD's new gerbils 'Smoky' and 'Smudge' - put them in the (empty) bath and sat in with them with DD and DS and they had a lovely time climbing up us and getting to know us and, big bonus, no nipping!

I've had my mum on the phone about 6 times today. She doesn't want me to get the fresh stuff on Monday as the weather forecast (for the other side of the country, lol) isn't good. Doesn't want me taking the kids out. So she has done it today :T
Lettuce will sit in a bowl of water, rest will fridge or freeze. So I can avoid all retail hell for another week! Hooray!
    But it meant:
Call 1: what sort of tomatoes do you like? (Red ones)
Call 2: dips, can't find onion hummous. Oh, it's here ('kay bye)
Call 3: can't find yoghurt pouches, will frubes do? (Yes, fab)
Call 4: will we drink a litre of baileys? (I hope not!)
Call 5: there's ready mixed cocktails? Mojitos? (Is that before or after baileys?) ahh good point lol
    And you get the drift...

So I was there in spirit :rotfl:

Right. Mini people into pjs before the dancing final...

  • DD's presents are wrapped, that means my Christmas prep is done! I will not be venturing into a shop bigger than my local coop for the rest of the week :)

Emptied the ironing basket while watching King of Comedy, played a bit of backgammon and watched Squeeze live in concert from last week.

Tomorrow I want to vac (didn't happen today), clean out the hammies, wash our bedroom light fitting and tidy the boys shelves -- picking up my skids around 5 and we have a stuffed duck for dinner and Elf for some family tv time.

Trying to convince DH to let me watch Long Walk To Freedom tonight, mainly because I want to perv over Idris Elba. Tissues ready for the inevitable drooling. Mmmmmm ;)

Needless to say, I'm quite enjoying this holiday malarkey :D
