Kitty, excellent idea! I know how you feel, EB, I'd happily sit in darkness but OH gets up and goes around switching every light on, tv on and walks away. Do you know if it can get a reduction on your energy bill if you pay a fixed price DD? I suppose it would long term.
Your pedometer challenge is going well, I dont think I walk that much at all. I have one of those heart rate monitors for exercise but I'd worry that wearing it would work would send it off the chart!£2 Savers Club 2014 #74 - £4840 -

I did look into getting one of those actually, apparently everyone will have to have them in their home within the next 5 years, but when I contacted E.ON my area isn't yet sorted, so will have to be patient. I know that I would find that very motivating! And I can shove it in OH's face and physically show him how wasteful he is being! :rotfl:
It's great to hear from someone who has one actually and that it has helped reduce their usage. That's very interesting, perhaps their is hope for us yet!! Thanks for that info xx0 -

I'm at 6561 steps for today, so hopeful that I can get up to 10k again by the end of the day!
I'm also thinking of slowly trying to switch the lightbulbs over in the house to energy saving LED ones. They are quite expensive, but much cheaper to run and they last for ages. They are about £8 a bulb though
I'm trying to find a DD amount that means we end each year with a neutral balance, but as we have been in arrears until they are paid off I won't know, if you see what I mean. I will pobably get it sorted then switch and ditch to someone cheaper knowing me!
Today I have eaten a muffin
So badbut it was so good! Diet not going great last couple of days. People need to stop bringing their goodies in from home, as I can't say no!!!
Yesterday was a NSD, and I'm hoping today will be as well. OH will no doubt try to convince me to get a take away tonight, as he does most Fridays, but I have a pizza in the freezer, so will try to convince that we can have that instead! Thinking of going the butchers tomorrow, to see if I can get meat from them instead, and support local farmers. Probably tastes much nicer!
Ooops look at the time, I need to get cracking!0 -

Morning all, just a quick post to keep up with my diary, otherwise I will let life get in the way and I will forget about it!
Came home after finishing late at work last night, 40 mins OT FTW! Got changed went straight out to the gym, got home, showered, ate, went to bed...rock and roll! Will catch up on everyone's diaries later today.
OH is full of cold, so gonna head into town now and stock up on cold and flu stuff. He hates being ill, he is such a bad patient! :rotfl:I also want/need some new gym kit, some of mine is on it's last legs, so I'm going to have a look in Primark as SIL bought some from there the other day and it's not very expensive. I don't care if my leggings have a big tick on them :rotfl:£15 tops, which will have to come out of my Misc spends budget as I've already spent up on my £20 clothing budget for this month. Naughty naughty me!!!
My Amazon voucher from O2 came yesterday too, £21.06 yay! For an old phone sat gathering dust in a drawer. Might use that to get a new hairdryer if they cheap enough on Amazon.
Right gotta go, be back later!0 -
Hi Eyebright and friends
just quickly catching up on diaries - will be back properly later. Did you get some gym gear?
My diet has not gone well this week and I wouldn't worry about a muffin with all those steps you are doing

If you have a Sports Direct near you, they have a lot of cheap gym stuff.
Also thankyou for reminding me to get rid of my old phones! Will look into cashing some in, my last one might fetch £40ish on eBay, but will check the other sites too.
My diet is not happening at all, so your muffin is nothing compared to what I've been eating lol£2 Savers Club 2014 #74 - £4840 -
Morning all,
I've ended up having a few internet free days, as I was heading for burn out lol! I feel much better and refreshed though my bank balance is slightly lighter
So on Saturday I did indeed get some gym clothes - £22 worth , though I did get 4 items for that, so not as bad as it seems, but considering I am supposed to be trying to NOT spend my money it was a bit much. I then spent £7.53 in boots for poorly OH, though I found out I have nearly a tenner in boots points wahoo! I then also spent in Wilko's as they had some great offers on cleaning/laundry products. Nothing I actually needed right away, but stuff to put away, and should last me a good while! That came in at just under £10.
On Sunday I then spent £1.99 on an e-book, though also got some freebies too. But I have lots of unread e-books, so did I really need it at this time?
Yesterday I did a Tesco online order, that hit £60
but we did need a lot of stuff this week. Will add it to my GC total once I get the official receipt tonight when it arrives. I also bought my lunch yesterday, as I didn't/couldn't find anything in the house to take for lunch. Managed to find some LO curry in the freezer though, which I'm taking for lunch today. So trying to get back into the swing of things.
My turning off of electricals before bed is going well, though as predicted OH is resistant to being bothered to actually getting up to turn the TV off rather than put it on standby. Still, will be interesting to see if even these little changes add up to anything much for now. It's a start!
I did 12,642 steps yesterday, which worked out at 2.6 miles in total. Going gym tonight as well. Weighed myself on Sunday and I'm now 10 stone 12lb, so 4lb off last week. Think a lot of this was fluid though...not expecting anything like that this week. Will be happy with 1lb off this week. Yesterday I was bad, so got to get myself back on the wagon. Ate far too much chocolate, and a pasty and bag of crisps aint healthy!
10 days to payday...
Hoping to come back later in a better mood, feel a bit down at the moment again. Need to stop beating myself up over my weekend spending, it could have been worse. It's a learning curve this process. Have a lovely day all! xx0 -
Not doing as well on my steps so far today, only at 6977, but hoping I can pull it back a bit this afternoon. Also got gym tonight, so even though I won't put the pedometer on whilst I'm there I will definitely get to 10k and probably way beyond!
Just remembered I still haven't finished my uniform rebate letter, I really need to get that sorted ASAP. I'm just being a lazy mare, and potentially depriving myself of some cash by not posting it off. I could do with some money to pay off my debts, I've really not made much of s dent in them this month. It's all been about damage limitation and not adding to my debts. Which I am succeeding at so far, so I guess that is some sort of acheivement. Trying to be positive!

You're absolutely right. By not adding to them, this is a forward step. Hard time of year so you're doing better than most. You're in the mindset to tackle them which, I am realising, is the single most important thing.
Also, your pedometer challenge - 10k steps is the aim. As long as its not zero, it's progress.
The most worthwhile goals are the ones that often take the most work.
I've not heard anything back yet from the uniform tax thing, hopefully it will be worth the asking and we will both be able to retire!£2 Savers Club 2014 #74 - £4840
