My Cats gone missing

  • No sadly not, thank you for asking.
I've been out and asked a few more of the neighbours, but there all oldish round here or disabled and are telling me they hadnt opened the garage/shed yesterday.
She went missing from 6am-8.30a.m on Sat.I've rung the vets, registered her on missing pets websites and informed the RSPCA/PDSA and cats protection.
Im really fed up about it, I just want her back.
Im going to the library tommorrow and getting a leaflet done and posting it round the street.
  • One of the neighbours said a fox might have got her!

I really hate it when people say things like this. It's equally possible that she is stuck somewhere or has wandered a fair distance and become lost. A recent study shown on TV showed that cats can wander a fair distance from him in a short amount of time, so it's a very real possibility. Hopefully some kind soul will spot her and take her to the vet to be scanned, and a reunion is on the cards.
I hope she comes back, because Im feeling ill with worry and feel helpless.

I really feel for you, as I have been in this position before. Countless others have, too, unfortunately it's just a matter of time and legwork now. I wish you well in your search, please keep us updated.

No, a fox wouldn't take a cat. More likely a kind but misguided member of the animal snatch team on the pet thread.

    Is your cat neutered?

Can you put out a blanket on a washing line if you have one, something that your cat will pick up the scent of? Those are the tips we got when my mums cat went missing, sadly we never got her back, was during one of those awful winters, someone did take her in and she was found but she had a fit and died in the arms of the SSPCA officer, we think she possibly drank anti freeze that someone had left out. Ten weeks she was gone, it was terrible. I dont know how you feel completely as its never happened to one of mine, but I love my mums cats too and I was broken hearted for my mum.

All I can say is never give up hope because there are cats who wander off and do manage to come back even weeks or months after the event. Im sure if you google you'll find other things you can do, but cats have an actute sense of smell so if you have a blanket or something with her scent on and hang it out, she might smell it even if shes a couple of miles away from home.

My mum was told that a fox would kill her cat too, really not helpful at all.

Theres a site called missing pet register, put your cats details on there as well.

I hope you get her back. I have 6 cats and mine are all indoor cats as I live on a very busy bus route. I know how much you get attached to a pet. I hope she comes home safe.

Just wanted to add a glimmer of hope really.
One of my cats disappeared 8 weeks ago. I did everything I could think of, posters, leaflets, rang all vets, posted his pic on every lost cat and rescue site facebook page in the area.
Also posted his pic and details on local facebook selling sites and freecycle pages.
Registered him with Animal search and Missing pet register. I also contacted Petlog with his chip number and registered him as missing.
I scoured the town, following up on sightings from facebook, did numerous walks scattering contents of hoover bag all to no avail.
I also contacted the local highways dept in case they had recovered his body (they pick up dead animals if reported and don't scan them)
I had started to give up hope.

Anyway - Friday I had a call at work, someone had taken him into a vet as a stray 40 miles away and as soon as they scanned him he flagged up as lost.
He had been being fed now and again by an elderly lady for the last month and she was worried about him in the bad weather so persuaded a friend to take him to the vet. Although I'm hugely grateful to her for looking after him, I do wish she'd done it when he first turned up, he could have been home a month ago. I did have a long phone chat with her and thanked her profusely for caring.

So I now have one very tired cat home safe and sound and apparently none the worse for his adventure (although he is a little more feral than before - obviously fending for himself for 8 weeks has honed his skills a bit).

Will be keeping him indoors a few more days just to re-establish his sense of home and regain a bit of calmness. I've also bought a collar and tag just in case.
  • Thanks, yes she is neutred, and I've put her details on a couple of those missing pet registers and the microchip one.
Theres no dogs round here, its rare you see one even being walked on a lead.I know shes not in the immediate neighbours garages and sheds because they have checked whilst I have stood there.
I've just been out round the block again with my torch and nothing. When I take my leaflets tommorrow Im going to call next to each persons garage to see if I can hear her.
Theres no fur or anything in the garden so o signs of her been attacked.
The thing is if she gets lost round here most people are that immobile they cant even get to the door without help let alone catch a cat.!
  • Really hope you get her back ASAP :)
I would be distraught if mine went missing.
    Sending positive thoughts :)

  • Sorry to hear she's not back yet. Please do keep us updated.

Just had a thought. Are you on twitter or Facebook? It's always worth posting on social media as it can reach a whole host of people that you'd otherwise miss.

If you'd like me to post on my twitter feed, let me know x

Yeah, I've posted her as missing on my facebook and set it to public and shared it.
Also posted her as missing on Gumtree as well as the other websites. The next door neighbour said her husband said he thought he could hear a cat wailing from the railway enbankment at the back of our houses.
I called her and nothing and I cant go clambering about there in the pitch black as its as dence as the Amazon rainforest and I dont want to get killed myself.
Theres also lost and found pets in my area on facebook and I've just asked to join that.
