A present is regarded as something out of the ordinary
So if a child was told on the 25th december there present was being fed and sheltered for the next 12 months I imagine they might be disappointed

I got my Xmas bonus today, today of unpaid, if you'd call that a bonus? Well better sitting at home in the warm than stood at work doing nothing in the cold.0

I currently work at a public sector organisation. We get nothing, holiday entitlement is decent but apart from that nothing. It's a very unsociable place to work and the few people that bothered with the Xmas "do" had to pay £36 each!
Starting a new job in the private sector in Jan which offers a bonus of 20% of annual salary every July, they also pay for Xmas party and provide parties/events throughout the summer for staff. Cannot wait!0 -
I run a small company, 20 employees and we do a £100.00 bonus and a bottle/crate of their choice.0

I quite agree, I was just making the point that something out of the ordinary should work both ways.A present is regarded as something out of the ordinary

i work for the local council and we get nothing.
no pay rise for emmm 3 years at least.
no christmas party.
not even a card.credit card bill. £0.00
overdraft £0.00
Help from the state £0.000 -
Last year, I got a box of chocolates and a free christmas meal out with the team...this year, I am working for 2 different companies. In one, one of my managers gave me chocolate and a card, the other company I got a sparkly purse (as did all the other staff - think it was organised by head office). So nothing major, but the gestures are still appreciated
