Not getting anything extra but this year I am in work and the 3 out of 4 last years I was SE so no bonus (or work for that) over xmas.

I did get a 2% rise in September so it's not been too bad this year.

Can't wait for xmas to be over work wise as we have been silly busy since september all building up to christmas and the winter sales.
Bedroom Tax / Spare room subsidy / Housing Benefit Reduction - It's the same thing, get over it.

Last time I got any "Christmas Bonus" type thing was 2007 when my employer at the time gave all staff a £20 gift voucher, the next year we were told it was no longer being given going forward. My employer this year used incentive prizes to fund the night out & the last time I was working at Christmas the night out was subsidised by the company (2011). My christmas bonus this year is a decent amount of hours - which lets be fair here as a Christmas Temp suits me just fine, means I stress less in the new year if I'm looking for work.

  • I don't get a christmas bonus, but I do get a yearly bonus in May, which is worth up to 4% of my salary. I also get a yearly pay rise of 2-2.5%… and I work for a large supermarket chain!
  • Our annual bonus is paid in January and July. It's usually a few grand, but it is performance related. If you score 4/5 you get 100% of 'bonus allocation'. If more than 80% of your time is spent as 'billable' then you are nearly certain to get a 4.

Last year I scored a 5 and got 150%. Annoyingly, the bonus pot was smaller than normal. I'm crossing my fingers for a 5 again as I was involved in a couple of successful tenders AND more billability is usually high.

Downside: only a 1% pay rise for all employees over the last 3 years

It's depressing me that so many private companies treat staff like a number (amazon, next et al)

I'm starting to realise perhaps how lucky I am to work for a company which treats staff as individuals and that values the experience, knowledge and possible improvements they can bring. Also working 9-5(ish) Monday to Friday is nice, which appears to becoming increasingly rare these days.

Oh and we are having a Christmas party this year for which the the taxis, venue and Dinner and a couple of drink vouchers paid for by the company.

In return, I truly do work incredibly hard, efficient, punctual, professional and will often go the extra mile to help keeps the gears in motion in attempt to help the business grow and expand.

All you people who work hard for little thanks. Are you looking for work in other places? Or you just grin and bear it?
  • All of our staff get a present of some sort. Ranges from a bottle of wine in the difficult years, to vouchers of £25 when times are better. And a paid Christmas party with some drinks thrown in. Its nice that even though we are now around 170 people, we still get this. But I appreciate we are very lucky.

Absolutely amazed at the boss that claims the supplier gifts. We get a few boxes of sweets from customers, and they are always shared out in the department.

  • This year we have had bonuses paid in July and November, 2 lots of double discount days and a pay rise. Not bad by the sounds of it.

My employer doesn't give us a christmas bonus, they used to give us a small one (£200 ish) but then we got a raise and there was something about it being merged in to that....

They do pay for our christmas night out tho, dinner/dance at a nice hotel, 5 drinks each and our taxi home paid for.

And we get a 3 course xmas lunch in the work canteen as well.
