I have just been upstairs to find DS has found his bag of Christmas presents in my bedroom :( He denies it but I know he has, I know how the bag was sealed and it has been opened.

I can't believe it, the last lot I had been purchasing though out the year I hid at my Dads and he gave them to him  So this time I hid them in my room.

I cannot replace them now, I need to think of a reason why they were in my room unwrapped in a black sack! The only thing I can think of is Santa asked me to look after them for him, I will need to have an answer ready for Christmas morning.

This is the problem of having a six year old who doesn't sleep  I am sure the majority of six year olds are fast asleep at this time of night, not searching for Christmas presents! - to be fair to DS he went in my room for something else and must have stumbled across them :(

santa can't afford to pay for everyone's xmas present so mums and dads buy them and he gets the elves to come pick them up - or the elves only make wooden toys so the parents have to shop for other things as no shops in north pole

You could say to him that Santa phoned you, and is there anything that your son would like to tell you?

Then see how the conversation goes from there.
:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.

We had the tradition that santa only sent a stocking with sweets, a small toy, comic etc and that presents came from mum and dad, auntie a, uncle b etc.

Now he is a big boy santa just does stocking and family do the rest?

You buy the presents that are then sent on/collected by Santa for delivery was the story my sister told her kids. I had a different version for mine cos my cynical son would have asked 'why bother doing that' :D Now said son is a teenager, he admits that it wasn't accidental when he 'stumbled ' across stuff, which I admit came to mind when I read your post (sorry).

yes - at his age he should know that the presents are for him FROM members of the family - Santa delivers them but only if he has been a good boy! and tbh - I bet there is a kid in class whose older siblings have told them there is NO SANTA and passed that knowledge on!
but his stocking or one present IS from Santa and is a total surprise to you! with a bit of luck you can keep the Santa mystery going this year - but by seven all my kids expressed disbelief in Santa but were willing to go along with it with the younger siblings. So sorry hun - but its the end of the 'magic' of Santa.

Thanks all. He his not daft, he knows he shouldn't have seen them, hence why he is denying it. I am temped to not give him the stuff, that will teach him, he will be wondering where it is Christmas morning :rotfl:

I just wish I knew how much he saw, its not so bad if the just saw the items I had got as extras for him. I am hoping that he didn't see the main present that he had asked Santa for on his letter.

He does know that presents come from members of the family as he has to say thank you to everyone for them, but most of what I buy generally comes from Santa.

Maybe hide some stuff away and see his reaction?

Then find some things hidden by santa much much later that day.

Or else just present them as from Uncle a, auntie b etc.

Now that is a good idea, the ones at the top of the bag which he clearly has seen I could leave until the evening and tell him I brought him some things to find in a treasure hunt which I have asked Santa to hide for me. Or is that too cruel he will be wondering where they are all day :rotfl:
