Sorry for the lack of pound signs - like others on the site I just get the hash sign!
if £500/month covers your expenses then I'd move 6 months worth (£3,000) into an instant access account. Perhaps another current account with a decent rate (tesco, TSB, Nationwide?). You can then use this other account to shelter the money but also cycle money between that and your Natwest account using online banking to meet the minimum monthly deposit.
Then you can look at fixing your ISA if that's what you want to do. The premium bonds will likely have a poor return if you have average luck, but I understand these are fairly quick access, so could be treated as part of the emergency fund too.0 -

I've just dropped £1400 in to savings, so almost a quarter of the way there thenwasn't going to update spreadsheet until the end of the month though
edit: oooh, just realized that has taken me just over £22k for the year too, which was my original 'stretch' goal once I got to my £18k target. Finding almost £2k next month to reach £24k will be really hard, but might just be possible0 -
well done Lomcevak!
The one mill mark will definitely be breached... probably someone in the next few days...
Already thinking about 2015 - shall we aim for 1.5 mil?My Goal: From 1st of Jan 2015 to 31st of December 2015 is to save 30000.
48.78% towards 2015 target.
105.3% towards 2014 target. :j0 -
Hello fellow savers!
Apologies for being so rubbish at updating my progress on here this year!
I update my signature but have been seriously slacking with filling in the spreadsheet!
My total for 2014 so far is £22,000! Can't quite believe it! Looks like I'm going to beat my 2013 savings by almost 10k!
Won't be long, and we'll all be getting ready for saving 12k in 2015! Where does time go!!
Keep up the hard work everyone, love reading all your updates as always!0 -
That means we've hit it right!!?0
