Hi all :j
I've just spent the last week or so reading this thread and cannot believe your savings totals.
Your motivation is unreal and has inspired me to be more savvy with my money. I will continue to watch with interest for the rest of 2014 and then count me in for 2015.
Good luck with reaching your goals

Haven't actually saved anything in the last couple of months as moved into a new house at the end of June and have been using all spare cash to do things to the house and had a cheap holiday to Spain last month. Don't see the situation changing at the moment as we have also pulled the last of our debts together on one card and are trying to pay this off also. Really want to get to £5000 but even at £4100 this is more money saved than ever before. As long as it stays in premium bonds it will be far enough away not to touch and may even win something if we are lucky!Apr - Makitia DAB Radio

Afternoon all. I have spent some time today going through my finances. I have made the decision to resign from my teaching job and finish up at the end of 2014. To this end I would like to have as much as I can saved so I feel at least fairly secure financially. After that we will have OHs wage to live on and hopefully be able to save a small amount each month too.
I will stick with my current target of £14k by end of 2014 but ideally I would like to have more than this.0 -

Save £10,000 Jan-May 2022 THEN RETIRE!!
Final total for (half) year: -£4,0000 -
Thanks Wentthedaywell, I am really looking forward to finishing up as this past year and a bit has been really stressful. I do have a couple of other options in the pipeline - I already do a little bit of massage so could expand that or get a job with a local company. I am also doing a counselling course at college and would ideally like to go on and do the diploma and then work as a counsellor either for someone else or in a self-employed capacity.0

Lots of interesting options Allie, nice to have other irons in the fire. All my teacher friends/relatives seemed to reach a burn-out point where they just had enough and it was affecting them. I don't think teaching is like lots of other jobs where one can hopefully coast the last few years; more and more is demanded of teachers and beyond "just" teaching.
So it sounds like an exciting year or so ahead!Save £12k in 2022 thread #7:

Hi Tara, yes I have saved for it up to a point. I hope to have just over £20k saved by the time I finish up. Ideally I would like to have saved more but I am at that stage where I have had enough.
Thanks to this forum and website I know we have got our money farily under control and we live well below our means so even living on OHs wage we sould be able to save a small amount each month.0
