Hey, every penny counts, and you did really good, especially when you look at how much debts you've managed to repay (in your signature). :j

You should be really pleased

    Thanks. :)

The payments for the debts have come from me selling my possessions but the savings are coming from splitting profits from pieces of furniture I have bought to restore and sold on - half goes into savings, other half gets added to the capital to buy more. The idea being the more I can buy, the more I will eventually be able to save. Hope this makes sense as it's probably a bit different to what most people do, whilst my wife earns a good salary I do not so trying to be a bit more creative with my solutions.

I suppose I'm somewhat embarrassed by other peoples totals on here. :o On the plus side, I've got another £50 to add from today, bringing my total to £270.
    2018 totals:
    Savings £11,200
    Mortgage Overpayments £5,500

Thanks to a big bonus from work I have reached my target. This month we saved £7450.64 :T

I do have to pay £1200 for a holiday next month so there is a chance that my total savings may reduce next month.

You should easily be able to get that £6K back by being a cash buyer. If you haven't already seek some advice on the housing board - there are some right terriers there - you might even save more

Thanks, I will have a look! I'm a Yorkshireman so we drive a hard bargain and notoriously tight with our money... I'm in good company on here!

Declared £550 for April, well on course to hit the halfway target a month early in May :j

This didn't include the £275 I made at the car boot as that's gone to the log burner fund. We had a quote of £2,300 for the whole job. I've spent the last 2 Sunday's knocking out the fireplace myself saving £700 in labour. I've also sourced the chimney liner on eBay and bartered down the cost of the stove so we are budgeting £1,300 all in. Split between my parter and I means we can afford to go ahead without affecting my savings.

Well done everyone, it's a great feeling to be saving, no matter how big or small it all adds up!

Sorry, I don't really know how to work the spreadsheets.

Another £150 to add, making £220 / £1,000. I know this is not exactly impressive but I've really tried this month. :o

Don't worry, you don't need to know how to work the spreadsheets, just use the update form to update your totals each month. slowlyfading will do the spreadsheet stuff when she gets a minute. I usually wait until I know I won't get any more money in and then do the update once per month. If I do happen to do the update too early and get a little unforeseen money in, I carry it forward to the next month's update.

Also don't worry about your goal being small. You have the same goal as me! ;) The purpose of the thread is for saving as much as you can. Any money saved is better than no money saved. :)

I probably won't update until Thursday this week as I am waiting for ISA interest which is due on 30th April. I want to include it in April's update.
    Mortgage at 12/07/2022 = £175,000
    Mortgage today = £161,690.76
    300 271 payments to go.
    House buyout fund £21,000/£40,000
  • Hi all

I'm calling £1200 this month as I won't be able to get my hands on any cash till payday now.

Had a good month Ebay wise, sold about £400 worth of stuff, plus just waiting for my Etsy payment of £50. I've also got a market research group tomorrow night which is paying £50.

My job is a bit shaky at the moment so I'm trying to be more resourceful when it comes to saving, I might well need these savings if the SHTF! Hubby is earning so we can survive for a bit if I leave, but it's not ideal.

Well done everyone on their saving this month! And SF - thanks in advance for updating my total = £1200

Golly everyone is doing amazing so far! Were a hell of alot below our target with 0 saved, everything just keeps on crumbling and we have to keep paying out. Still hoping to get to my target of £10K before the end of the year though!
