    Number 38. declaring for April:

I have an expensive month this month. Like a lot of people, I have my car MOT, insurance and tax to pay out, plus I have just treated myself by booking my summer holiday. So, a grand total of £550 for me this month.

My total is creeping up though...a lovely feeling :j

  • Hi gang!!

Apologies for my absence, but have just got back from an amazing holiday in sunny Sri Lanka!! For those of you that love to travel, you really MUST go... A stunning country with such a rich diversity of history, culture, scenery and wildlife... We had a fantastic time!! :)

Anyway, firmly back to reality and need to get back on the saving bandwagon now!!
Whilst we were away, one of OH's 10 year plans matured, which will almost max out her ISA for this year - so that will go towards the house deposit fund.
My normal £300 went into my long-term plans and £300 straight into First Direct Reg Saver - I think that's pretty much all we're going to be able to save this month, as we were pretty relaxed with spending on holiday (but well worth it!)

So, declaring April's total as £600... Bringing my total to £2,400... Happy with that!
    (Spreadsheet updated!)

Well done everyone on their continued efforts! It really helps me stay focused and motivated to save!! So thanks!

Always so jealous of those of you who get to declare already! I don't get paid till next Wednesday and you all make me very impatient lol! I still have £300 tucked into my temp savings account ready to move to the ISA on Weds, I've also started a separate side pot which currently has £50 in it. The plan is to tuck £50 a month into this side account and keep separate from my main savings, this will be to absorb any larger and/or unexpected expenses without hitting the main savings. E.g. I know I have a couple of fillings to be done in June and as I'm private this will be in the region of £200. I'm sure many of you already have a similar "rainy day" type pot but it's a new system for me and I think it will help save me from guilty feelings by preventing my monthly savings from taking a hit like they would normally have to.

April pay day and another £1,850 saved! £500 each into the 'new house fund' an additional £600 from Mrs MM and £250 into my regular saver. We now have over £40k saved for the house deposit which I am really happy with!

When we sold our house in January we sold for £6k less than we ideally wanted to, but thought lets look at the bigger picture here? We have saved that 6k in 3 months since selling and there was no guarantee that somebody else was going to come along and buy our house so I am glad we sold when we did.

On a separate note to get to April and already have over £7,000 in the 12k Challenge!

    Evening everyone :hello:

I put another £50 in my ISA today so it is getting there gradually! I will hopefully be putting some more cash in next week before the end of the month.

Hope you all have a lovely weekend :)

  • £2,300 as it stands is my total for end of April. Not much progress being made although I am now ahead at work so May should see 4 figure put away, ready to leap on over summer and catch up with everyone else!!

#55 declaring £500 for April. I'm lagging behind my target, but am also paying for a holiday, so I'm still quite proud of myself!

You should easily be able to get that £6K back by being a cash buyer. If you haven't already seek some advice on the housing board - there are some right terriers there - you might even save more
