Hi, new to this saving but at the age of 24, and a half, I am really hoping this could be the kick of the backside I need.
I don't know if situations will change, and I am on a low basic salary at the moment, but I will try and go for 6k.
5k maybe more realistic, but I will try and aim high.
I am owed 1k, and I gave my dad 1,300, so I guess that will help towards it when I receive those or is that cheating?
Good luck all0 -
I'd like to join again, due to moving I've not been on the 2013 board much but I'm going to try for £4000 in 2014
I hit my £2000 target this year after getting out of my overdraft so doubling my target for 2014!

I don't know, a girl goes off to hospital for a wee while and when she comes back you're all on page 6 of the new thread!!!
Anyway, SF I would like to join again next year please. My target is a measly £1000 as I have big plans next year.
Little Miss Gap and I are having a big holiday in summer. The majority of it will be paid for with 2013 savings - that was the reason I was saving them  so that won't affect 2014 savings. I will be using the first half of 2014 to save the balance I need for the holiday (so not counted) and I am planning to overpay my mortgage for the second half of the year (which I don't want to count in this challenge as I only want to count money in a savings account) so there is not going to be a lot of spare cash. According to my proposed budget and spreadsheet I will be able to save £40 per month towards this challenge. However, I am expecting £100 in interest to come in at the end of January and there may be other bits and bobs over the year so rather than set my target at £480 I will push for the £1000. It seriously will be a challenge. If I am doing exceptionally well I will up the target during the year but I can't foresee that happening.
Good luck folks and thank you SF for your continued hard work running this and the previous threads.Mortgage at 12/07/2022 = £175,000

It might sound ambitious yes.. I cleared £16,600 of debt in 394 days this year. I intend to apply the same rules to saving.. I have 273 days this time...:)“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Right I'm back this year. And I will remain committed. I seriously blame HMRC/employer for messing up my tax situation and making me think I was going to lose £800 at some point without warning (they still haven't sorted out who I owe money too, but I've given up waiting! both of them deny responsibility)
I should be getting a very small pay rise (should have got it last month) so my monthly savings I think are going to be a minimum of £350, so Can I be put down for £5000 so I can be slightly optimistic?Save £12k in 2014 Member 81 £1930.23/£50000 -
Hi there, I was one of the folks that disappeared halfway through last year, although I bought a house so did something productive with the money I had saved!
I am torn between throwing lots of money at my mortgage and starting saving again - I found saving very addictive once I had started. I will probably do a bit of both, so I am going to aim for £9000 this year.
So, stick me down for £9000 please!0 -

Hi Guys,
I am 25 and have recently been trying to save more, reduce debt but mostly just control what I am doing.
My plan is to to save £5000 over the year. My pay date is the 15th of every month (or nearest Friday if its over the weekend) so I will be posting results then (assuming that is allowed) as that is when I fill in my spreadsheets.
This is my first year recording like this and my projects predict £5k, and I am tempted to push it, but don't want to get too disheartened. Especially as I have some big events this year which may cost me!
Wish me luck!0
