Frustrating time with new Asda mobile sim

Farway - If you mean that your phone is locked to Orange you will still need to get it unlocked when your Sainsbury sim arrives. I had that happen on a T Mobile (spare handset) when I tried to put an Orange sim in it so although they're both the same EE network their sim arrangement is still separate.0

Got my new sim about a week ago. Was working fine until today, then no outgoing calls or texts and the 'service is busy' message when trying to dial out. Gave up with the helpline after 30 minutes on hold. New number wasn't recognised when I entered it on the helpline, but old number was fine and told me I had twice the amount of texts etc from the free bundle.
Totally hacked off with the complete lack of information from ASDA mobile about what's going on and looking to switch providers so I can at least use my phone.

For those having problems with there new EE sim. I finally got through to customer services today. They said that the problems of loss of service are due to the start of my number transfer. As it can take up to 2 working days, I was told that I may get service back at midnight tonight or tomorrow.
I think it would be helpful if they made a mention of service loss in the number transfer section of their website.
Will have to wait and see what happens.

Having got her new Asda SIM, my OH has delayed her transfer to EE having read this thread, no real rush to switch, since they are running in tandem until March. No free lunch, and no free laptop0

You have to text your voucher code before removing your old sim.
Any credit on your old sim does not transfer to your new EE sim. So when you insert your new sim you have no credit and a new phone number. When I called 2732 to top up I could not do this because my information is linked to my old phone number which has not been transferred over yet. I couldn't speak to a human advisor because because there was no credit on my phone. I had to go into Asda to buy a voucher before I could use my phone with the new sim in it.

It took me 9 days for the number to transfer over from the old SIM and I found that:
-I needed money for voicemail as that isn't included in the bundle.
-My voicemail didn't work initially and I had to ring 3 times to get it back.
-I am unable to use network internet as there is no APN code in my phone now for Asda mobile. All the settings have defaulted to T-mobile which is off course locked. I had no problems with the old SIM.
-I am unable to send texts to 5 figure text numbers. (ie talksport)
-Every call to helpdesk involved 25 mins of waiting. The person on the other end didn't really understand my question.
I used to really like Asda Mobile, I'm now looking elsewhere.0 -
After trialling a sim in my spare phone for 4 days I have taken it out.
1 - 50% of the time internet connection failed.
2 - Unable to connect with 2732 on occasions.
Had to get the internet settings from an independent website (Geeksquad) as the sim installed T Mobile settings and requests via Asda website for settings to be sent by text were not answered.
(The phone works ok on other networks so it's not at fault)
Asda do not seem to be getting a good service from EE.0 -
why would one want to go to asda/EE when other network providers are way cheaper and very good serviceWhat happens if you push this button?0

Because for low users, like me, they offer top ups & not "bundles" that expire in 30 days
My free alternative sim from Sainsbury's only allows £10 bundles which expire in 30 days
With my Asda sim £5 lasts over two years, I do not use data, or send 1000 texts a month
Perhaps you can suggest a similar offering?
PS already have Ovivo, so may just use PAC & go with thatEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -

Because some people just want the 'easier' option, even if it might cost them a bit more. However, by making the migration process such an apparent nightmare, Asda may have driven away a lot of customers who fit that description.
Asda CS under Vodafone used to be first rate.No free lunch, and no free laptop0
