Moving on up, 2014 here I come

I felt really drained day before yesterday and had a sleep for nearly 2 hours (unheard of for me in the daytime) and I feel a lot better for it. Any chance of taking it easy today?
Thank you x I had a lovely hot bath earlier whilst the kids were busy and then had a nice hot cup of hazelnut coffee, feel a lot better than I did earlier.Love how organised you are for Christmas - that will be a weight off your mind knowing that its sorted.
We have such a large family, I need to be organised. I wasn't organised the year before last and was in a terrible state trying to get everyone.0 -
Okay, so whilst I was in the bath earlier; I got to thinking about January and what goals I want to achieve. So here they are:
- Avoid alcohol ~ this one should be easy to achieve due to the cream I'll be on.
- NSD's ~ do have to get a grip on this one.
- Loose weight ~ this should go hand in hand with the NSD's and avoiding alcohol.
- Build up 'pots' ~ See next post
- Pay or halve MBNA ~ I would love to achieve this one, it is quite a lot to pay off in one year but will give it my best shot.
- Keep up with the housework ~ although I'm doing more hours now, I've neglected the house a bit this year and could do with sorting it out.
- No iPad after 7pm ~ I'm sure I could do something other than being on that at night.

I have various pots, which were being built up during this year but ended up being emptied on a regular basis.
HOLIDAYS AND OTHERS - This one besides holidays is for likes of DD's Brownies, DS's Climbing Club and school uniforms.
CHRISTMAS AND BIRTHDAY - Rather self explanatory
HOUSE AND CAR - This one is for house maintenance and all things car wise.
I would really love to get these built up enough so that come 2015, they are self maintaining as they will be drip fed every month and used solely for what they're labelled for.
ETA: Holidays and Others fund - the initial aim was to use the £2 coins towards this.
Christmas and Birthday fund - all 50p's saved will go towards this one.
House and Car fund - all 20p's saved will go towards this.
Anything saved in the demi-john gets split equally between the Christmas/birthdays and house/car funds.0 -
Glad to hear you are feeling better :j
I am so jealous of how organised you are!! Christmas already sorted for next year?!?! I NEED to take a leaf out of your book! I'm really liking your goals, a lot of them are very similar to what I would like to acheive, though my official targets list isn't finalised yet, but I hope to have it published on my diary by New Year's Eve at the latest.
I'm also hoping to have my saving pots built up a bit next year, though the house one is about to take a battering and there's naff all in it as it is :rotfl:0 -
Good morning,
Ended up feeling rather bleurgh yesterday and was in bed earlyish...I think its a combination of Christmas and getting my head around total debt busting anyway I'm feeling much more alive this morning.
Found another present that I can give to DH's great niece so the list is now getting smaller
a lovely friend of mine makes homemade jam and chutney so she's going to make me three hampers for next year, so I've only 7 left to get now.
New oven is coming this afternoon, DH has got the neighbour a few doors up to come and help install it
will be good to have a working oven instead of an intermittent one.
We have a few DD's that come out on the 1st of the month, my thinking is that they may come out tomorrow or NYE instead. Have made sure that there is enough in the account to cover these. Reason being that we moved DH's wages over to the online saver when he got paid (long story and not one to share on here) and have been drip feeding the current account ever since. Once we get in to next year, I can then transfer the rest of it back over and we carry on as normal.
One thing I used to do but didn't do this year is change the kids change that's in their money boxes in to notes once a month and squirrel that change then in to their respective pots. This ensured that we were saving without really thinking about it and that it was easier to then put their money into their accounts once they had enough. I think I will restart that this year and see how I get on.
Oh and good news.....yesterday was a NSD

Glad to hear you feel a little better. Sometimes it can all be a bit much and draining x0

Just a small post before bedtime.
New oven skillfully installed by hubby and DS, DS is stronger than he looks for a 9yr old...shows the climbing I'd paying off as I bet a lot of the boys in his class wouldn't help carry a heavy double oven through the house to the kitchen (that goes without saying as I know the boys in class).
Expressed my worry to DH about new company going bust, he's assured me he'll what he can but needs my support (goes without saying Tbh), just awaiting game now.0 -

Glad to hear you now have a working oven, well done to DS! Mr Muscles

I'm glad to hear you are feeling better today. I feel bleurgh today. Am heading off to bed in a min, and hoping to feel a bit more human tomorrow. This time of year is bad enough without worrying about debt busting, finances and the threat of lay-offs.
Here's to 2014 being all us DFW's year!!!! :beer:0
