  • Back again quickly before I head off to work.

Have done my spreadsheet for January and know approximately how much extra cash we should have at the end of every month...quite shocking as I've never really paid any attention to it before.

If my budgeting works properly, next year will be our year. Just got to remain focussed.

My personal budgeting will be as follows:

Maximum of £10 pw spending money
Save all coinage for the savers clubs etc
No unnecessary spending - avoiding Tesco will help with this one.

Household budgeting will be as follows:

Keep to a set amount for the shopping - menu planning will help with this.
Keep 'pots' topped up for utilities, car taxes etc so that there is less to find when due.

Other things happening next year are DS's 10th birthday in June, he wants a party and our 10th Wedding Anniversary in May, would like to do something nice for this.

Doing a lot of thinking recently about how to get this sorted and I'm hoping that this time, we will get it right.

Now off to work...no rest for the wicked lol

Sounds like you have been very productive today!
  • Good morning,

DH drove himself to the station this morning, so although there will be a car park charge its nice not to rush about for a change.

Also......IT'S THE LAST DAY OF TERM!!!!! (Can you tell I'm excited? lol)

Still no proper news on the investor side of things with DH's company but allegedly there was a meeting yesterday with the said investor so hoping that DH will hear today what's going on.

Checked the bank account this morning and I've been paid :D so although it's early by a week it does give us a bit of a breather until DH gets paid.

Got the kids presents to wrap at some point, really don't fancy doing it on Christmas Eve like other years.

Off to see DH's SIL's and MIL tomorrow to do the present exchange and off to see my friend and his wife Sunday afternoon to give them their gift.

Getting rather excited now that Christmas is getting nearer, I'm looking forward to the break and to getting a good head start on next year.

I do have some bits to get this morning, it's DH's nephews birthday on Boxing Day so need to get him a card and present and we need some little bits from Tesco but I think I may take a trip to Sainsburys as they seem to have much more food than our local Tesco's, not planning on spending huge amounts!

Saw a photo of me yesterday that was taken a good few years ago, I'm at the park with the kids...God I was thinner then! Said to DH that was before my back problem, the drinking and laziness took over. That picture however, has spurred me on to get back the old me.

Right off to get showered and organised.
  • Morning,

I hope everyone had a lovely day yesterday and got spoilt :D

DH is officially looking for another job, the investor has pulled the deal with the company and DH is unsure that the company will be there come the end of January. So a bad end to a carp year but I'm looking that 2014 will be better all round.

Anyway moving on from that; I got some tea for a present and the lovely caddy that came with it I've put to one side as I'm going to use it for saving change in it as its pretty big.

Got the dermatologist on Friday, I think she's going to give me some other cream to try, the one I've been using hasn't made much of a difference to the Vitiligo but will see what she says when I go back.

Had a NSD yesterday, okay so it was Christmas Day but still didn't spend anything so a good thing anyhow :D

Going to try and get some plans sorted today for the start of the year including Christmas 2014, getting rather excited now lol

Have a good day everyone x
  • Evening just a quick post.

Oven stopped working, has been on its way out for a number of years....£300 lighter, new oven arriving Sunday...we got given £100 from my mum so have put that towards it so £200 all in all.

Have done some shopping and have got quite a few presents sorted for next Christmas and have put one a side that I got myself that I will pass on to my mum's partners daughter :D

    I will be organised!
  • Hi Purplemum,
Happy christmas! I hope you don't mind but I was browsing for inspiration and I'm going to steal many of your 2014 goals - you appear to have read my mind - particularly paying the cc's, losing weight and clearing the carp!

I also have a jar with £2 savings that I have stopped using (nearly broke in for xmas but resisted) so will get that back on track next year.

But well done you for getting started!

  • Hello Purple, now subscribed :j I need to do the same as you and have a good start for 2014! Good luck x
    :j Now debt free :j
  • Good morning not feeling 100% today, feel really drained and tired.

Went to my dermatology appointment yesterday and as predicted she gave me some different cream to try, this one is for the patches on my face. One downside to the cream is that alcohol reacts with it so I cannot drink once I start using it :( I guess that's a good thing in a way as I'll loose weight, save money and will probably have better skin (if it works that is!) so 1st Jan is my start date as I want to drink on New Years Eve.

£7.85 spent at the Chemist yesterday :( but on the upside, I put my parking ticket in the machine and got my money ready and it came up with 'you have paid, proceed to exit'...parking didn't cost me anything :D

6p added to my demi-john and 50p added to my tea tin this morning.

    £2's ~ £6
    50p's ~ £3
    20p's ~ £4.80
    Demi-john ~ ??

Christmas nearly sorted for the rellies next year and I'm aiming to get a few things over the year, ideally I'd like everyone done before the year starts then all I have to do is concentrate on DH and the kids but will see how it goes.

DH's birthday is at the end of January, so need to think about that too.

Credit cards have been paid, although the BC has gone up at the moment, can concentrate on that one once the new year starts. My main aim for next year is to halve or even better get rid of the MBNA card.

Itching now for 2014 to start then I can get a move on with the budgets. Need to go over January's budget and tweak it a bit, I think we have the Council Tax and Water Rates come through towards the end, so will update the speadsheet once they've arrived.

I felt really drained day before yesterday and had a sleep for nearly 2 hours (unheard of for me in the daytime) and I feel a lot better for it. Any chance of taking it easy today?

Love how organised you are for Christmas - that will be a weight off your mind knowing that its sorted.
