Post Code TW19 - cat living around a bus stop

had a quick look on other sites and it can vary according to whether its done in house or is sent to lab.
Can cost as little as £30. and different vets charge different fees! best to ring around and ask!0 -

Including FIV and FLV?
youd be better off asking for full blood screening, as in some places it doesn't matter if one or two tests are selected for lab tests it costs the same as a full blood screening.
but ask first.
felix's (rip) bloods cost me £49.00 to test for liver and kidney function after he was booted in his side and had his pelvis bones shattered but it would have cost the same if it was a full blood screen.0 -
Id just like to say, having read this thread, its very possible the people could be lying about who the owners are, if I had a cat that was sick, under no circumstances would I be leaving it out and certainly not in winter
Ive taken a couple of cats off the street, not snatched them, but I kept an eye on one for a month, he was living on the streets, my guess is someone moved away and left him and if I hadnt taken him, hed have been dead by now, no way would he have survived the winter outside
Another cat was at a bus stop at the edge of a field in the middle of nowhere.
I made every effort to find out if either cat was someones. But Im not sorry I took them in, one is with my mum and has been for 8 years.
If your friend turned a blind eye that cat might be dead by now and if they want to wait until easter to get it shaved, what a load of tripe, if the cat was in the !!!!!!!g house it wouldnt be cold. I have a long haired cat who needs regularly brushed, a cat with clumps, those clumps will be painful
I wouldnt be handing the cat over to the RSPCA either but I do think someone needs to find out who the owners are, not just take these peoples words for it.
A 19 year old ill cat with matted fur living outside near a busy road, words actually fail me, hope things work out ok for the cat in the end.0 -
Thanks so much everyone.
I just called one of the local vets here and was told aroun £120.oo for blood tests including thyroid, FIV and LFV.
Ewa is taking this cat to an RSPCA vet in her area so this should hopefully be cheaper.
But your posts and my vet gave us some idea now, thanks a lot.
Cat carrier was delivered today, Ewa will pick it up tomorrow (was delivered to her work after she has left), food and other items I also ordered will be delivered on Monday so all we need to know will be the vet fees.
I really hope this cat is not pregnant but also worry about very round tummy ..0 -
Oh my lord....she "looks" too old to be pregnant!!
Roll on monday and she can see a vet. Keep the thread posted with updates.Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.0 -
Im sure theres a bit of red tape but the PDSA might be able to offer cheaper vet treatment, you could ask and see if you qualify for it.
Ive been very lucky so far with mine, in 14 years of having cats my cat only needed to go to the vet a couple of times, he had cancer and needed pain relief towards the end, died very suddenly after being diagnosed, my cat last year had a problem with his eye
But my mums wages might as well have gone straight to the vets, mine are indoor cats and obviously hardy (because they are soft lumps that live indoors)
Its a good thing you are doing, even if this cat does have owners, they arent showing very much in caring towards this cat are they. I also appreciate times are hard for people but times are tough for lots of people, Id go without to make sure mine were ok.0 -
you have to be on benefits to qualify for PDSA Pauline. seems unfair with so many people on low wages but, I suppose they have to draw the line somewhere.0

on the film of the cat eating - I noticed the tummy seems 'distended'. if its pregnant then I very much doubt its 19 or even 17!
I would be more inclined actually to think 'worms'. and dread to think what all those matts are harbouring!0 -

also have to be in the right post code catchment area in some places. and you have to be on certain benefits which usually means income based only income support or JSA income based benefits.0 -
Just been mooching about for prices to see if I can find any different ideas...couldnt.
But on the tesco one...it has a cat pedicure for £60....is this in fact a nail cut??...or does the cat get a paw and leg massage thrown in..?
My vet was a fiver to do nails..!Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.0
