    Just take care of yourself.

WARNING! MEN! I AM GOING TO SAY THE 'm' WORD.

    :rotfl:

Will try to. Had steak for dinner on Sat night :)

Def had some side effects when I've started the pill previously. E.g. I'm currently trying to lose weight, not gain it
  • I was on the mini pill for 4 years. I switched to plan B after, in 2004, not missing one, not taking one late, and the birth of Isaac in 2005, which appeared to indicate that Plan A was not working any more (-:

You do need to keep an eye on iron supplements, I think - they are important if you need them, but shouldn't be glugged too randomly. I've been on one since I started getting this sickness, but I know I am anaemic, because I can't eat so many things.

I have no idea what LiR said after the warning, because, well. Man shouldn't know that kind of thing.

I would be careful with iron supplements unless you know you have a deficiency. They have risks attached.

Maybe I'll call my dad for a chat about it - I have heard about his prostate in rather too much detail recently!

    All imbalances have risks. :).

The GP might care to do some nikkster bloods when she goes back. Mine would be asked to. :D.

I only made it to 30% (which I was pretty chuffed with tbh) as I couldn't face putting every last penny down - it's not quite been 5 months yet so not quite up to 40% ;) I'm working on it though! Should definitely be there when my 5 year fix is up (touches wood).

    Sounds a great start.

    Well done

    None of the above.

Actually I heard of another terrifying Australian thing. There's a small tick which likes to bite a person now and again. It's painless and barely even itches apparently.

If you get bitten then there's a chance that 1-6 months later, when you eat mammalian meat ('roo, possum, lamb, horse etc) then you'll get anaphylaxsis. After that you'll be allergic to meat (not fish or fowl) forever.

The weekend was lovely. Me, 2 dogs, an Aussie side losing the Test and lots and lots of Winter Olympics. We did walks and I spoiled them rotten. They eat very well! They get a sort of porridgey stuff for breakfast and then a mix of veggies, lentils, rice and pearl barley for dinner with a pat of raw meat. It looked great! I was kinda tempted myself. A doggie biscuit for supper plus the odd bone if they've been good. It's a pretty sweet life.

I got the pine nuts out of the cone week before last and I have roasted one so far. They're pretty big, well over an inch long and almond shaped. They taste very nice, a bit like a giant pine nut funnily enough. Faintly sweet. I'll roast the rest at the weekend I think.

I've yet to be bitten by a spider. We have funnel webs in the back yard living under a brick so there's hope yet. I managed to pick said brick up without gardening gloves as SiL wanted to put a brick under her wheel to stop the car rolling off. Won't be making that mistake again.

There's something similar in the US (maybe it's an Aussie import?)?
It secretes an antigen found in non-primate mammals that wwe get sensitised to. I thought it was interesting because lamb was one of the three famous foods nobody becomes allergic to, until this was discovered.

I don't think I had that pleasure, but have been informed in detail about my mothers diverticulitus ( sp? ) and calcium induced constipation which was a pleasure to discuss.

    I'll vouch for that.

Seriously, get checked before taking any extra Iron.

    That goes for anyone.

Iron supplementation in humans in pregnancy, is I am guessing, quite specific?

my private GP told me she advised almost all women (she might have said all, ) to take a particular iron supplement during menstrauation. She's a doctor, I still think that's pretty brave. But prolonged menstruation can be pretty draining, and anaemia is often undetected. If I were in nikksters shoes I'd definitely want it checked.

I KNOW I am prone to anaemia, definitely suffer blood loss, and would take iron all the time but for the limited desire to take more pills. :). I defineitly take the that time though, and take them randomly through out the month, Supplement phobics would be horrified.:D

Whole diet is definitely part of the picture. Nikksters steak is going to be far most enjoyable I think.

Edit: a quick yahoo (come back google) confirmed I'm not mad, and neither was private GP, Heavy or prolonged periods biggest cause in anaemia.
