Back to stage 1 there - will require at least a hundred hours of procrastination on my part. I am terrible at making decisions like this where there are too many options.
So there is an advantage to having to put more than intended down as a deposit - not enough left to make it worth looking at offsets.

I finally signed up for a GP round here as I experienced a significant change to something normal. The GP was nice enough, I was told that they wouldn't usually do something after a month (no matter how out of routine my symptom was), and that if it continued to come back and they would medicate. I guess I've not lost being a scientist completely as I couldn't understand why they wouldn't at least do a test or 2 to try to identify the underlying problem. I'll definitely be giving that a gentle push when I go back (symptoms are continuing) - firstly as I get private medical cover through work and secondly because google tells me that one of the possible causes is entering the menopause
I hope you feel much better soon, missk. Its nice 'seeing' you around again x
All tests have risks and costs associated with them, and you've got to balance these risks against the benefits. Or, possibly, maybe giving you medicine that generally works for the most likely causes of your symptoms is the best test considering risks / costs.“The ideas of debtor and creditor as to what constitutes a good time never coincide.”

Very true - I hadn't thought of it that way. It's not very scientific though. And my job makes me realise that no medicine is without side effects so it is surely better to diagnose properly to make sure the treatment is reasonably appropriate?
Edit - not sure how it works as I've never used it before, but I would be happy to pay the 'excess' and get the tests done privately if necessary.0 -

Nikkster if its the obvious one, I had that before I knew I was pcos, and the reverse where you just don't stop for a while. They just chuck pill at you to try and re jig cycle as the first line treat ment. Or used to.0 -

Yup. Would rather not though (not like I need it for it's main function, and had a bad experience in the past - which may just have been coincidental timing but may not have been)
Its the not stopping version. Don't really have any other obvious symptoms (other than breakout-prone skin), so would rather anything was confirmed more thoroughly.
I'll give it another few weeks and go back and see what they say/ what I can persuade them to do!0 -

You have to think how long you think you will have that mortgage before remortgaging. I always thought between 5 and 10 years was a good amount.
Think about what position you hope to be in a couple of years. Wage raise, promotion, kids, holidays etc.
Do you plan on over paying. What are the fees and do they stack up. It can be daunting at first.
Try and decide on what type of mortgage will suit you for the next 5 years, then that will narrow it down a lot.So there is an advantage to having to put more than intended down as a deposit - not enough left to make it worth looking at offsets.

It used to be 40% equity or more got the best rates, not sure if that still applies. It may be worth looking at remortgaging when you get to that point if you aren't already there.0 -

Just take care of yourself.
WARNING! MEN! I AM GOING TO SAY THE 'm' WORD.
I take iron/c when I menstruate, if its longer/heavier than usual bear in mind you Mpmight feel a bit depleted.
I too avoid the pill or any hormonal stuff. I find it extremely poor choice for me. Both physically and temperamentally. It also makes my boobs so big its unbearable (7and puts me off sex entirely, I think that's how it works personally.....takes away libido so there is NO chance you are getting pregnant) in short, makes me feel like someone else0 -

I only made it to 30% (which I was pretty chuffed with tbh) as I couldn't face putting every last penny down - it's not quite been 5 months yet so not quite up to 40%I'm working on it though! Should definitely be there when my 5 year fix is up (touches wood).

I have no idea what LiR said after the warning, because, well. Man shouldn't know that kind of thing.
I would be careful with iron supplements unless you know you have a deficiency. They have risks attached.“The ideas of debtor and creditor as to what constitutes a good time never coincide.”

I would have thought all offsets only give you one bank account - the one where you stick all your dosh so that you only pay mortgage interest on a smaller amount.
We operate that account like a savings account and keep our current accounts elsewhere, transferring money back and for when we remember.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards.
