Wow, Spirit that is exciting! I didn't think we had wild boar in this country. Goes to show we don't always know what's out there.
I found this website in case it answers any of your questions:

I am learning a lot about wildlife from this thread lately! Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

It is the sensitivity of my skin which means I try and cover up from the sum 100%, it doesn't take me long to burn and even before that my skin goes red and uncomfortable. Similarly we try to teach the DKs a healthy respect for the sun although in their case they ar probably actually fairly safe but there is a culture in this country (perhaps a bit like the drinking one) that getting tanned/burned is a good thing that we don't want them to followI think....0 -
I need some NP help with my DW. DW washed DS hair this AM and with it loose the only way to describe him would be extremely pretty
. How can I persaud DW that it would be better for him to have a hair cut to a more boyish style? She is not against per se but she just loves him still being her 'baby'.
I think....0 -
What does DS want? I have a (male) relative who had long hair as a boy and was quite happy with it. All his adult life he's kept his hair very short. He's also very much an alpha male.
If your instinct is that he is being bullied in any way that would be a different matter.

His eyes are fine. His brain is just better than yours at still being able to appreciate your many attractive attributes regardless of the size of your knee and ankle.I slept through the night without waking up stressed last night for the first time in weeks at least, maybe months. It was brilliant.

Indeed, as long as he's not overdoing it with the sunscreen.
ETA: X-posted with michaels. Covering up 100% is not good for you. You need at least a little daylight on at least part of your skin at least some of the time. Your kids have enough melanin occurring naturally in their skin to protect them from most levels of sunlight and can afford to chill about it. I find most mixed race kids are dark enough not to get caught up in the whole tanning thing that white kids can be tempted by, anyway.neverdespairgirl wrote: »Wonderful photos Lydia - in a rather depressing, eerie kind of fashion, though!
Thanks. The one with the bench I got out of the car for. The others were mostly taken from the car - with the driver's door half open, standing on the bit where the door closes to, and elbows on the roof of the car. I took them with my phone and was surprised how well they came out.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -

Hmmm. Difficult. On the one hand, she has experience of having that kind of hair, and you don't. But then you have experience of growing up as a boy, and she doesn't.
How old is he now? Does he get teased for looking like a girl? How does he feel about his hair?Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Much easier said than done. Interesting that you slept so much better away from your family.
Doc has suggested we should all take vit d as it is mostly gained from sunlight and we have vampire tendencies, as my dad has osteoporosis I really should do so. Any foods have good levels of available vit D?
The body makes the vast majority of Vitamin D under the skin during sun exposure. It can be foun in oily fish and it's added to cereals. The best kind of supplement might be cod liver oil perhaps, but it really is daylight on skin that is needed every day.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Not up there with Komodo dragons but some wild beast excitement here this morning.
This morning as I drove along (insert name of our road here)l a wild boar/feral pig crossed the road in front of me. The animal ran from the woods across the road and into the grounds a of the XXX property. This road cuts through XXXX managed by the forestry commission.
The animal was a dark chestnut colour, quite hairy, with a medium length body, short legs and pig like head. I am quite sure it was not a muntjac or other small deer (or a labrador!). We live about a quarter of a mile from where we saw it this morning and have seen fleetingly a similar shaped animal in recent weeks near there, our daughter remarked on it on another occassion, however we rationalised the 'odd shaped' animal as muntjac as those sightings were at dusk/in headlights.
However in broad daylight this morning it was quite clear. I have reported it to natural england via their reporting email link and got back an automated response which is about job applications and stuff.
I was driving OH to a dental appointment when we saw this animal. OH has been putting off having posts fitted for crowns (part of his mega dental plan which I whinged about last year). He is home again now, under the influence of valium and crashed out on the sofa. Soft food, pain and hamster cheeks are his lot for the next few days. He did not mention this appointment to me until Thurs. We are supposed to be housewarming and having supper with a pal tomorrow night.
DH just said he'd like to keep this post as a copy to explain to people how his wife makes friends on the Internet. From wild boar to toothipegs in the blink of an eye. He says he wishes he had time to chat on here!0 -
Fwiw today is quite mild. DH is topless in the garden I have been in trousers, a t shirt and a jacket, knee socks insulated boots a hat. He did prize my gloves and hat off me for a while though
Its certainly mild enough while working hard to be in a t shirt. I managed it VERY BRIEFLY while forking up the muck heap this morning. (Which counts as working hard for me these days).
We got our hops planted out ( a bit too early really, I'll be worried in a cold snap) . The troughs we bought as planters took barrow loads and barrow loads to fill. They really don't look that big. I want to weed but the ground is still too wet.....the front border needs some work.
The kiwi found a poisoned rat (but we got it from him). He is really proud of him self.0 -
It's amazing the clarity of thinking that I've had today.
I do a lot of things that make me very unhappy because they help other people. That is going to have to stop.
I find walking an amazing thing for moments of clarity , helpful thinking, and just generally de-stressing.It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0
