I should take mineral supplements according to my internet research. Our water, now that it is softened and reverse osmosised (if that is a word), doesn't contain any naturally occurring minerals.
So I have a bottle of them in the house, that I should remember to take.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. I came, I saw, I conquered should set him up for the day easily enough on its own.
And/or, as it's about books and not people..... then the words from the book (which is written in English). A quote from Julius Ceasar, the book.
It's shorter and maybe easier to read in Latin - is that less posh?
Veni, vidi, visa - I came, I saw, I shopped? There's a lizard here (can't remember which one) that eats carrion. It's favourite method of gaining access to a carcass is to eats its way up via the bottom and start eating the intestines then it kinda eats its way out.
For a very long time it was generally assumed that this was a venomous animal. It turns out that the reality is that this charming method of eating means that its mouth is full of the most hideous toxins so a bite will inevitably lead to a very horrible blood poisoning.
I am dog sitting. I sat indoors and read a book and watched the Winter Olympics.
I'm sure Isaac would be fascinated by your horrible lizards - what are they called?Glad you got some decent kip.
Komodo dragons interest me. How do they tolerate all their germs (that kill their prey)?
Plus they're parthenogenic and some of their eggs fertilise themselves (giving them virgin births).
According to my personal source of information, it's only been actually recorded twice, in zoos, but generally speaking people find staying a respectable distance from Mummy Dragons good for their health, so it could happen more often in the wild, as well.
Whose dogs, and why? I noted that you'd also got rid of Mrs Gen and the Gen-lets for the weekend, are the dogs connected with their absence in some way?...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
It's amazing the clarity of thinking that I've had today.

Diet really is best way IMO to get what we need, Its also most enjoyable way. Its not necessarily cheapest way.
Doc has suggested we should all take vit d as it is mostly gained from sunlight and we have vampire tendencies, as my dad has osteoporosis I really should do so. Any foods have good levels of available vit D?I think....0 -
Lately I have been craving fizzy water and milk. Clearly milk would indicate a shortage of calcium, but so, surprisingly, does fizzy water. I am now drinking plenty of milk and fizzy water (not at the same time mind).
When I was very ill I wasn't eating or drinking much at all, so being replete in something isn't much of a surprise. I am a great believer in listening to your body. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

Much easier said than done. Interesting that you slept so much better away from your family.

I am too....but not in a way that ignores the symptoms.
I crave dairy products incessantly now, but we know that's Been one of the problems! /(.
Edit : horses often become addicted to acorns, (poisonous) and its anecdotally reported, and we certainly think we saw it with pink whistley, a carb addiction when you put cats on a carb free diet......cats are obligate carnivores. She started stealing bread.0 -

You are very fair-skinned - you should make Vit D easily enough if we ever get any sunshine? Vit D problems are more usually seen in darker-skinned people (it's one of the few physical advantages of being white, I think, in our latitudes). No knowledge of current popular culture...are you planning on becoming a high court judge in the future?!
I've never been remotely interested in sleb culture, and I'm not about to start now (-:
No intention of taking a job, though! There is The Law of Insomnia which states that no more than onw person in a room can suffer from insomnia.
Might be the case that no more than one person in a room can have insomnia, but that one person can certainly make others suffer from it, surely? It's amazing the clarity of thinking that I've had today.

Good move. Unless they are utterly crucial to the person? For example, giving blood might make you unhappy 3 x a year, but might still be a reasonable thing to do?The boys are now old enough for us to have a dog but we have Jasper the cat and it wouldn't be fair to him...by the time Jasper goes, it would be time to have a dog but then I will probably be back to the old problem of not being home enough to have one.
We only had a cat when I was a child, Titus, a bad-tempered stray who disliked all humans equally. My Dad liked him, admired his sod-off-humanity attitude.
He died when I was about 8, and then we got another cat when I was 11, and a dog the year after. Since then, my parents have always had both.
Cats and dogs can be quite happy together, I think - currently, my Yossie lives cheerfully with my parents' border collies, and everyone knows the cat is in charge. And while I'm in the swing of uploading pics, here are some I took of the Somerset levels a couple of weeks ago:
Wonderful photos Lydia - in a rather depressing, eerie kind of fashion, though!...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
Not up there with Komodo dragons but some wild beast excitement here this morning.
This morning as I drove along (insert name of our road here)l a wild boar/feral pig crossed the road in front of me. The animal ran from the woods across the road and into the grounds a of the XXX property. This road cuts through XXXX managed by the forestry commission.
The animal was a dark chestnut colour, quite hairy, with a medium length body, short legs and pig like head. I am quite sure it was not a muntjac or other small deer (or a labrador!). We live about a quarter of a mile from where we saw it this morning and have seen fleetingly a similar shaped animal in recent weeks near there, our daughter remarked on it on another occassion, however we rationalised the 'odd shaped' animal as muntjac as those sightings were at dusk/in headlights.
However in broad daylight this morning it was quite clear. I have reported it to natural england via their reporting email link and got back an automated response which is about job applications and stuff.
I was driving OH to a dental appointment when we saw this animal. OH has been putting off having posts fitted for crowns (part of his mega dental plan which I whinged about last year). He is home again now, under the influence of valium and crashed out on the sofa. Soft food, pain and hamster cheeks are his lot for the next few days. He did not mention this appointment to me until Thurs. We are supposed to be housewarming and having supper with a pal tomorrow night.0
