I'm firmly tucked up in bed.

I've stumbled across a disaster of a 60 minute makeover on pick tv. They are sticking vinyl tiles to floorboards with carpet tape. Aside from that being stupid as it probably isn't a level base, they've runout of tape about a third into the room. So just placing them on the floor saying "she'll have to sort it out later".

In the main bedroom, the 'designer' has decided to put curtains on every wall in the room instead of painting it?! The curtains aren't long enough either so he's had the team paint a band of white around the top of the room so it looks like ceiling.

And in the lounge, they've painted a wall white and are blowing glitter onto it. Like a pre-schooler would blow glitter onto a collage.

And the designer is running around telling everyone else it's their fault. Car crash tv - which I have to watch to the end, if I don't fall asleep again.
Oh, and I thought there was no future with my level of skill/talent/ability!!
Somebody's made a TV career from it .....

    Interesting.

DD likes makeover shows. Her current fave is DIY SOS. Do we know if that's done properly or bodged/faked?

I'm pretty sure it is. They have all the qualified trades as well as a designer and I've seen building inspectors and so forth on the program. Oliver Heath is a retrofit specialist these days - zero carbon etc.

One of the programs was about a poster on MSE who was pretty much suicidal when he posted on the In My Home board. A group of MSErs nominated him for the program and then travelled to help a bit with the build.

...facebook groups often have furniture being sold off really cheap.
Only/mainly in areas close to big cities probably.
I've looked round where I am in the past, to find nothing. No groups at all when I last looked... half heartedly, admittedly.

    Just looked again:
    1 closed group
1 closed group covering a 10 mile radius

And even loading FB has now made my CPU go mental. This PC's not up to it really

I've always said "If I had to choose, that DIY SOS looks like the only program that does a proper job"

This video is a good auditory illusion. You watch the guy talking with the sound up and then listen carefully the second time with your eyes closed. It changes what hes saying.

I have a slight obsession with candle tubes because i want to over haul two lights we have. i want to find tubes/bulbs that do what this light does I think.

Why aren't more chandeliers whose candles do like that? I need thinner ones, so I guess its a practical difficulty.

I love that light too, although its not my normal style there is so etching warm and satisfying about it I think. but relieved its too big for the study where we need two diminutive lights. Not one large one.
