I'm firmly tucked up in bed.

I've stumbled across a disaster of a 60 minute makeover on pick tv. They are sticking vinyl tiles to floorboards with carpet tape. Aside from that being stupid as it probably isn't a level base, they've runout of tape about a third into the room. So just placing them on the floor saying "she'll have to sort it out later".

In the main bedroom, the 'designer' has decided to put curtains on every wall in the room instead of painting it?! The curtains aren't long enough either so he's had the team paint a band of white around the top of the room so it looks like ceiling.

And in the lounge, they've painted a wall white and are blowing glitter onto it. Like a pre-schooler would blow glitter onto a collage.

And the designer is running around telling everyone else it's their fault. Car crash tv - which I have to watch to the end, if I don't fall asleep again.

I think it must have been a pilot - the film quality is awful, there's a lot of Ikea stuff, they haven't decorated the child's room at all - putting little stickers on the room. He's now talking about how a rug covers the 'nasty' floor in the lounge which hasn't been laid but they can't afford a new one.

I hope the woman sued. It looks utterly dreadful.

I've probably mentioned this before. An old colleague of mine allowed a TV programme into their house. It was a huge place that they were slowly doing up so they thought what harm could it do to let them do it. Urrrrgghhhh... it was awful. She said she wanted stained glass windows and so they got some acetates, painted on them then stuck them on the windows with double-sided tape. I'm sure it looked great on TV. The rest of the room was equally disasterous. The TV company got their footage and my colleague got to do up the room again a few months down the line.

I'm not sure if I remember you saying this. I remember someone saying the tv people had stapled their friends curtains above the window instead of hanging them? Same?

With 60 minute makeover, I often think tht at least they have a new load of pretty expensive kit even if the paintwork isn't up to much, but this one was microbudget - vinyl stuck on the kitchen doors etc. An hour of my life that was already lost, but I will never get back.

I have seen that show a few times and been horrified each time.

My decorating saga is that the big mirror from an online purchaser has been delayed until June. :(. Bargain price with bargain waiting time lol.

I keep trying to remember to check ebay and stuff for garden furniture but when I remember there is nothing I like I can afford. People selling the mirror have resin stone effect ones, which LOOK nice but are very expensive for not even composite stone. My guess is they might result in high winds in hysterical shouting of....TRAMPOLINE! ;)

The sun is out here. My dogs are celebrating an an antisocial vocal way. The contractor who does hedges says he might risk mine next week. He has a little weather station for fun and says he has failed to measure rain this year because each time his rain water receptical has overflowed. All he knows is its over half a metre.

No! That's a different one! I can't believe that. TV makeover shows. The gift that keeps on giving and not in a good way.

Agree re the new kit on 60 minute makeover, though it does annoy me when they say "we've got you a Charles Eames chair" when clearly its an unlicenced product.

Friends reli was on 6 minute make over. They started by supplying a list of things that she had to collect that they could claim were junk around the house. Half of what they did collapsed within a week.

lir, facebook groups often have furniture being sold off really cheap.

I've looked into that, and yes, apparently you can get them to allow more. :) Now I just have to find the discs (which I can't remember seeing since we moved house).

I'll look into add ons for DS - that would help a lot. Thanks. :)

You can put on a new computer if it was on an old machine that you have dumped, without the need to phone up and explain. I heard that the software only checks the number of machines you have installed on if the last install was within the last 6 months, but that could be urban myth.

    Interesting.

DD likes makeover shows. Her current fave is DIY SOS. Do we know if that's done properly or bodged/faked?

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

6 minute make over must be the even worse version:eek:

Facebook groups would mean signing up to facebook.

I don't want to. DH is on facebook (sort of) but not in any groups. I don't honk he'd know anything about groups or be keen to look into it.

What you have are normal people, technophobes. Luddites, then lir. :):).

I did take some pics for Lj of the garden today but none have copme out really worth uploading. What is amazing is I missed that we have had a rose in bloom! I went to turn the pot its in to take a better shot and the open bloom fell. Never, ever have I had a rose in bloom so early I think.
