Some years ago OH was attending an international committee meeting where a decision was to be made on whether a small bit of cloth was a flag or a pennant. He was warned beforehand that the meeting could end in tears. They were not joking.

I was head hunted for a role at HM Treasury and went for an interview. It took place at the treasury in a very high ceilinged small room. The interview went very well . At the end they asked me if I had any questions for them. I asked "what is the work culture like?" to which they responded "monastic and dedicated to the task". I laughed, then realised they were not joking. I 'corpsed'. Laughed uncontrollably and continued to laugh long after it was seemly to do so.

When I left the building I was still laughing and had to prop myself up against the wall.

    Unsurprisingly, no offer.

You sound quote people centred in your management. I can only imagine the right outcome occurred.

I agree that it is completely daft. One question is whether you read tabloid newspapers. Are there any broadsheets left?

    .

    The small broadsheets are 'compacts'.

My son's girlfriend is of Caribbean/Chinese extraction and rejoices in the name of Lou-Hing, so that's a tick for me for double-barrelled. :)

By the way, I agree that Monroe is a very nice first name. Rather unusual.

I am not going to put the real name here, obvious ly, but I have a friend whose from 'the far east' whose name is. Oh, um, no, not on forum. Hmm. Suitable analogy.

    (Quick lir think)
Her sur name is something akin to nikkster a word of the day Honk. Her parents then named her first name...Honk Honk. So my friend is honk honk honk.

Got an assessment centre for a graduate job next week :D

It's the final stage. Six people, two jobs. I like my odds!

I've booked my train, and booked a nice little pub/hotel for the night before, and I'm actually really looking forward to it.

Got a good feeling about this one :)

Good luck Masomnia :) Hope you get it.

I haven't been for some time but I will email her unless anyone is in more regular contact and can send everyone's regards?

I am conscious she might not want an barrage of mail?

That had also crossed my mind. I would guess you are in closest contact with her? In which case, please pass on my best wishes too and let her know that if there is anything I can do to help (not that I'm sure what it would be...) to just let me know.
